My passion for education began with my struggles learning to read and write. Overcoming those challenges showed me the life-changing power of learning, and I've been committed to helping others experience that same growth ever since. For over 20 years, I've supported learners through personalized instruction in literacy and creative writing, both in group and one-on-one settings. I've also trained staff in corporate environments, which strengthened my ability to break down complex information in clear, practical ways. As a parent of two sons, including one with Down syndrome, I also homeschooled for several yearsan experience that taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and individualized learning. I specialize in tutoring reading, writing, and creative writingsubjects I love because they help students find their voice and build confidence. As a published writer of nonfiction, inspirational works, and fiction, I bring both professional insight and creative enthusiasm to every session. I taught 2 years in Indiana, teaching high school special education. I taught resource Biology, resource classes for study skills and homework help, and I co-taught for language arts. After being laid off in Indiana, I moved to Arizona, where I began teaching in Phoenix. I taught 7/8 grade for one year and then moved to 6th grade, within the same school. I teach special education: math and writing, including co-taught math within the general education classroom.As I said, I love to learn. I earned my Bachelor's degree (2008) from Ball State University (in Muncie, Indiana) and have recently earned my Master's degree (2015) from Walden University. Proudly, I had a 3.6 GPA in my Bachelor's and a 4.0 in my Master's. Although I teach special education, I have a desire to help all students. I currently host after school tutoring on the 6th grade campus for which I work, and I enjoy working with general education students as much as I do with students who have special needs.I currently teach sixth grade, but when I am not teaching I enjoy playing tennis, reading, cooking, baking, hiking, and making jewelry.

I am a Masters level Therapist. I have undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. My Master's degree is in Social Work. I have worked in the field for 20 years, holding various positions in my agency. Although I can tutor in many subjects, my strengths are greatest in statistics, Psychology and other Social Sciences. I enjoy these subjects and love to see the person I am helping love the field as much as I do. My goal is not just to get you to learn the subject matter, but to understand it. This eliminates having to memorize and recall for test taking.

HELLO! My name is Amanda; I just graduated with a Masters in Education. Currently, I am a doctoral student at Walden University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education at Southern University A&M College with a focus on psychology and business. Since graduation, I have received my teaching certification; published my first book "Full Disclosure" ; and tutored private clients from P-20. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Math, Reading, and History. I love helping students fill in the educational gaps in their areas of opportunity. I am a firm proponent of education being the foundation of life, especially for students of color and low socioeconomic backgrounds. In my spare time, I am a singer, gardener, designer both in clothing and crafts, and a tennis coach.

I have been teaching elementary school for 21 years. I have taught the subjects of math, science, and social studies to grades third, fourth, and fifth. My favorite subject to teach is math and I have my Master's degree in Elementary math. I enjoy working with students. Hello students! My name is Joy Williams and I taught school for 13 years. I love teaching! I love the well-being of my student's academics. Reading is my favorite subject. I was a tutor for the entire 13 years of teaching. I started my tutoring in the morning for students who could not stay after school, it is important for students to read and understand what they are reading.

I believe the challenges I had to overcome to get to this point in life will always encourage, motivate and remind me that with tenacity, faith, and hard work, anything is possible. In the spirit of Albert Einstein, who stated "you never fail until you stop trying," thus I will continue to persevere with confidence in my abilities, to address the healthcare needs of others from all walks of life.

I have studied world religions, ethics, and business for a number of years. In my studies, I have been particularly attuned to the differences and the understanding of culture, survival, ethics, religion, and society between eastern and western dominant paradigms.From a practical standpoint, I have worked with the Kansas City Interfaith Council for several years. Through my contacts with people of different religious perspectives and different national background, I have come to appreciate how some perceived knowledge does not preclude other viewpoints. I would rather say that in most cases various systems of thought complement one another. Openness to other cultures, ideal, religious thinking, and practice allows for expansion and understanding of one’s own system knowledge.While teaching both religion and business, I have attempted to unite ideas from both disciplines to create more understanding as to why and how ideas are influenced by various constituent elements of society. I have taken advantage of any opportunity to have contact with students of diverse cultural backgrounds. By listening and being introduced to different cultural groups, I have been able to interact with and acquire and understanding of different culture from both the ideal and actual aspects of that culture.Education and learning are not accomplished in a vacuum. Learning is often enhanced by its application in real life situations and conditions. To this end, teaching is expanded when it consists of strong theoretical bases for perspective, wide understanding of the scholarly work of a discipline for depth within the field, and good grounding in practical application for constructive use of knowledge. Learning is a reciprocating process between students, teachers, and advancement of knowledge. Teaching may come from students as well as teachers, and each person in the classroom environment should be respected for their own worth as a person, and a rational human.

I am a graduate of the College of Charleston from where I received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. I also have a Master's degree in Elementary Reading and Math from Walden University. I have had the pleasure of teaching for many years. My experiences include teaching first grade for ten years and kindergarten for two years. In addition to that, I also had the unique experience of teaching a combination class of third and fourth graders in an International Academy in Costa Rica. One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is my Orton Gillingham certificate for teaching literacy to students with dyslexia. I have always had a passion for teaching reading and I truly enjoy helping those students who struggle with the different areas of literacy, such as reading, writing, and spelling. I have a son who has dyslexia and dysgraphia. I have seen the struggles firsthand and understand the many areas of support that students with dyslexia need. I feel very strongly about helping students overcome the difficulties that can accompany dyslexia. It is a true joy to watch my students grow and become more confident individuals and learners. In my spare time, I enjoy going on adventures with my family and our dogs. I absolutely love playing tennis and enjoy doing anything that allows me to spend time outdoors.

Teaching and educating young people has been my passion since I was a young child. I taught in Memphis, TN for almost 13 years. My first year was in 5th grade and my remaining years were with kindergarten students. I have a deep desire to help young learners discover their ability to read and understand with meaning. I obtained my Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis and then went on to complete my Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy. I'm currently a professionally licensed educator in the state of Tennessee. My experience is valuable to young readers, as I have strong skillsets in pinpointing strengths and weakness with readers of many ages. My expertise allows me to drive instruction to meet students' individual needs where they are and build on their prior knowledge. I believe that every child has the ability to build and grow their literacy skills and become lifelong learners. My expertise would focus on building strong foundations in the pillars of literacy: Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.
