I summarize new lessons to help students review content areas related to what was learned. I provide plenty of feedbacks such as good job, very good, thumbs up, high five, etc. to recognize their efforts and accomplishments. Remember, rewards and praises are great reinforcers. I use repetition techniques throughout my lessons because I believe that repetition learning is the basic technique for effective learning process. The idea is one quickly recalls letter and sound correspondences, the word meaning, and the understanding of each sentence by repeating over and over. I model and apply what was learned so that students can develop their ability to work independently. These following sentences describe me as a teacher and as a person away from school. I communicate positively and very well with students to support their learning. I listen attentively when students communicate with me to build their skills and confidence level. I focus on teacher and student collaboration as well as parent participation so that we can develop a connection to communicate with one another as an equal partner in education. I am flexible and adaptable because everyday is different and the learning constantly changes as we change our subject areas. I engage my students with humor and creative activities to build their thinking skills. I treat students with respect and I am empathetic and understanding of what might be going on with their lives. As an educator with 15+years experience, I am thrilled about the opportunity to apply my skills and experience in your science teaching role. In addition to my Bachelor of Science in Biology, and Doctoral of Philosophy in Public Health allotted me the opportunity to teach students across a diverse sector ranging from middle to collegiate levels. The lesson plans I constructed and implemented consisted of identifying the learning style of each student and aligning that style to the different areas of learning. Although I will not say that I am working towards building a legacy, I know that it is an inevitable by-product of living life. Student-centered learning moves students from passive receivers of information to active participants in their own discovery process. Education is a journey and it is necessary to teach strategies to students on how to navigate through their personal journey. Guide them, not lead them. Employability skills. I believe that my duty as an educator is to provide as much opportunity and experience to my students which will furnish them with adequate employability skills for them to be marketable in any career they choose. With an M.S. in Computer Science and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, I bring over 25 years of experience to every session. I specialize in Algebra I through College Algebra, focusing on step-by-step procedures and real-world applications to make complex equations manageable. My goal is to provide students with both the standard methods and creative alternate strategies needed to master high school and college-level mathematics.

I earned my doctorate from Walden University with a concentration in Educational Technology. I earned my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Hunter College, focusing on Early Childhood and Elementary Education and Literacy, respectively. As a veteran educator, I have worked with students one-on-one, in small groups, and whole-class settings, in-person and virtually in the public, charter, and private schools. My day-to-day experience with early childhood and elementary students is focused on supporting their understanding of reading, writing, and mathematics, including specific instruction for students enrolled in the English as a New Language program, which also involves preparing them for standardized tests. My favorite subject to tutor is writing because it is an avenue for expression and unique to the individual. Everyone learns at a different pace and in different ways, so it is essential to offer various learning opportunities. My tutoring style involves strategic technology integration that allows student interaction while providing the content from different perspectives. My passion for educating drives my will to serve students. I am eager to guide students who seek understanding.

With over 10 years of experience mentoring, teaching, and training in the mental health field, I offer a supportive, strength-based approach to tutoring. I specialize in psychology, social sciences, and study skills, tailoring each session to match the student's unique learning style. My goal is to create a calm, empowering space where students feel confident, motivated, and ready to succeed.

I am a professional full-time Language Arts, Reading, and Writing teacher. I have taught middle school students for going on 24 years this year. I have a B.A. degree in English, Language, and Literature, an M.S. degree in Education, and a second M. S. degree in Criminal Justice. I also am ESOL and Reading Endorsed. I love to teach students in a variety of ways. My passion for teaching has resulted in me receiving the accolades Teacher of The Year, Teacher of the Month a couple of times, Who's Who among Teachers, and Highly Effective teacher two years in a row. I feel the 21 st century student has a plethora amount of resources that can allow him or her to excel in college-readiness courses, academic rigor, and life skills. I enjoy the fact that I can give students an opportunity to work independently, with a partner, group, and with me during teacher-led discussions. My gumption also allows me to remain persistent, patient, and willing to help my students in many ways. I use visuals, manipulatives, and hands-on activities to increase engagement at all times. I believe that it is my duty to challenge students to explore knowledge through open-minded discussion. It is also my duty to encourage students to take responsibilities for their own learning. Each student approaches the learning process with a set of attitude based on individual beliefs, values, and emotions. It is my duty to establish mutual understanding with each individual student, to encourage critical thinking, and to transfer learning into positive impact. It is also my duty to adapt each lesson and assignment to student's individual strengths and needs and to make learning meaningful for each student. Students should not be afraid of making mistakes. It is my duty to create a positive learning environment where students' learning endeavor is supported. It is also my duty to encourage students to be participate in learning, to make discoveries, and to risk making mistakes. Students are the source of new knowledge. I continue learning new ideas from my students. Through personal reflections I refine my teaching practice and expand my knowledge.

Our Educational Consultant, Jhory "JoJo" Buskey, obtained his B.A. in Theatre Arts from Dillard University, M.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Dance Performance, Theatre Design and Production from Tulane University, and M.S.Ed in Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment from Walden University. He has been in education for 11 years and has taught every grade-level in K-12, specializing in the Humanities and Fine Arts. Outside of being an educator, current HS Principal In Residence, JoJo enjoys traveling, especially to New York to see his friends on Broadway, yoga instructing, watching all the saved shows on Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime, etc., and trying new adventures! He, too, is a parent to a little lady!
