I have a PhD in an applied statistical field. I'm eager to help students learn statistics from the basics, including how to develop an intuitive, non-mathematical understanding of what the models are doing. I have programming and data analysis experience in multiple statistical software packages plus Microsoft Excel.

I hold a BS in Natural Resource Management, an MS in Forestry, and an MBA in Finance; my studies were in Science, Math and Engineering. My education provided a varied scientific background that gives me with an excellent command of the subject matter encompassed by the Earth and Space, Environmental, and Biological sciences. I bring that knowledge to the classroom. I hold NJ Teaching Certificates (CE) in Biology, Earth Science and Middle School Science.
I recently received a PhD in the History of Consciousness program at the University of California Santa Cruz. This renowned interdisciplinary program is concentrated in the humanities while corresponding with other disciplines such as social science, physical science, and the arts. My academic work culminates in a dissertation in which I explore the effects of historical circumstances on cultural production and the ways that the surface features reflected in books, cinema, and art, illuminate the historical process itself. I have taught a variety of undergraduate classes including history, literature and film studies. I have also designed and taught upper division undergraduate seminars and Creative Writing as an instructor of record. My teaching ethos is to guide students toward a comprehensive understanding of the subject through discussion, close readings of texts, and the development of students' writing. My focus on writing, both analytical and creative, is grounded in the recognition that it is through the writing process itself that one comes to a clearer and more integrated understanding of the world. One of the most rewarding experiences as an instructor is to see a student's writing improve and create a pathway toward a proficient and nuanced understanding of a subject. The diversity of undergraduate students I have taught has been inspirational in providing me with a range of skills to better recognize a student's specific aptitudes and thereby develop and amplify their work in both an academic setting and in life in general. I have also traveled extensively which has allowed me to further hone my ability to communicate in various cultural contexts with people who have life experiences different from my own.
I have been teaching for as long as I can remember. Whether it be mentoring young dancers, tutoring my peers, working at an elementary school after school program, coaching high school dance team, or tutoring online. I am graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Art from the University of Minnesota. At UMN, I was a research assistant in a dissertation examining the political psychology of immigration attitudes. Also at UMN, I was a teachers assistant for a social psychology class, President and Founder of Elite Dance club, and a member of Psi Chi which is a Psychological Honors Society at the university.I am passionate about watching others thrive in what they do and hope to help others attain their goals.
I am a Bilingual EFL/ESL teacher (Spanish and English) as well as a graduate of the College of Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota with a degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Psychology. During school, I was a Biology Teaching and Learning Assistant for two years and that experience sparked my joy of helping students realize their learning potential (even in their hardest subjects). As I continued my schooling, I enrolled in cognitive psychology and that experience solidified my interest in helping people learn - especially in the language aspect. Seeing how much one's language affected how they saw the world made me appreciate our brains even more.Following graduation, I traveled to Playa Samara, Costa Rica to become EFL/ESL certified and it was one of the best experiences I have had. I enjoyed getting to know all my students and their strengths as well as implementing both the new teaching techniques I learned in the program and the teaching techniques I learned in my neuroscience and psychology classes (including many language learning theories). Because of my intensive studies, my main passion is helping students in any age range realize their language learning potential - even if they are 65 years old! (I have had 65 year old EFL students so it's possible!)With my background of teaching a broad range of topics from Biology concepts to linguistic structures, one thing that never changes is my ability to engage my students and work with them where they are at. I firmly believe that age and current academic ability don't define a student and that every student has the potential to conquer even their toughest courses with the help of effective teaching techniques that fit the student's multiple intelligence(s) and learning styles. Whenever I have free time, I enjoy spoiling my dog and finding the perfect coffee shop to work in when it gets cold.
I am passionate about helping students bring their Spanish skills to the next level! I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Spanish studies and a BSN in nursing. I also studied at the Universidad Catlica de Chile in 2019 where I participated in a medical internship program. I am a Board Certified Interpreter for Spanish, and have 2 years of experience working as such with Spanish speaking patients in hospitals, as well as translating medical documents to Spanish. I have lived in a Latinamerican country for over a year, where I acquired speaking fluency in Spanish informally, but also have extensive education in Spanish, where I acquired formal grammar and vocabulary skills. I have been tutoring English/Spanish speaking students for 3 years now, and I specialize in tutoring students hoping to gain conversational fluency, grammar skills, and a larger vocabulary in Spanish, and make learning a new language fun at the same time! My teaching philosophy centers around my belief that every student has different strengths, and benefit from a unique approach to their learning. I hope you'll find learning Spanish fun and engaging with me!
