I am a graduate of University of Michigan - Dearborn where I earned bachelor's degrees in Math, Physics, and Philosophy as well as a minor in Astronomy. Since 2009, I have tutored students from 1st grade through college, primarily in math and science. I love to tutor math and physics; they my favorite subjects to learn as well!I really love to help people learn; my favorite moments in tutoring are explaining something and watching eyes light up in understanding. My philosophy in tutoring is to meet each student at their own level of knowledge, working to understand how they see the world and then talking about the subject in a way that fits into the student's way of thinking. My personal interests include hiking and being in nature, reading, and playing guitar!

Hola! My name is Lindsey Mattson, and I recently graduated from Wayne State University with my Master of Arts in Spanish. This is my 14th year studying the language, as I began at age 13, and currently I am 27. During the 2020-2021 academic year, I taught my own Spanish courses online as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. During my undergraduate studies from 2015-2018, I worked as a Spanish tutor and worked with students from ages 18-75. Because of this, I am very adaptable to different age groups and people of different backgrounds. Helping others learn Spanish is my passion, and I would love to be of assistance to you!
For the last 7 years, I've been working with neurodivergent children and adolescents in clinical and educational settings. Working with children on the autism spectrum, children with ADHD, those with dyslexia, and other neurodiverse students, has taught me much about various challenges that our students face, as well as their unique strengths and abilities which they're bringing into the classroom. I have learned that each neurodivergent student, as well as each neurotypical student is bringing a unique set of needs and abilities to the learning space. My goal is to meet your child where they are, to find out where their strengths and interests lie, and to learn how to best adjust the learning experience to utilize their strengths and interests to enhance understanding, and build momentum in areas in which your child is struggling. As an experienced behaviorist, and a being a student with ADHD myself, I can offer unique insights and understanding to help your child wherever they are struggling in their studies, and to assist them in acquiring learning skills which may continue to serve them throughout their career as students, and as lifelong learners.
Tutoring is about showing people how to learn. Everyone can do it, but some do not know how they work best. I try to pass on the tricks and tips I have learned from over 9 years of tutoring and from doing my own work in earning my master's degree. Teachers and professors cannot cater classes to every individual student and so very often people miss out on information that puts them behind and they struggle to catch up. I try to bridge that gap between what they know and what they should know and try and keep explanations as simple and relatable as possible. I also believe in connecting with tutees as friends so that the tutoring experience is more relaxed than a classroom setting. I get strongly invested in the academic success of my tutees and the confidence they gain from the sessions we have.
I believe that every child is capable of great things and deserves an individualized educational experience. I will do my best to ensure that my students will feel adequate in every subject and have confidence that they can achieve anything they put their mind to.
I am a University of Michigan Honors Math and Physics graduate with experience tutoring high school and college level math and physics. As a University of Michigan student, I studied rigorous theoretical math in a variety of subjects, as well as graduate level physics and applied math. This experience allows me to teach understanding a deeper level for students who are motivated to learn more than just the basics.I am best suited to teach high school level or introductory college level mathematics and physics students, especially in calculus, algebra, mechanics, and electricity and magnetism.
My academic career was far from perfect I have experienced failure many times, and every time I failed, I used it as an opportunity to get more skilled. I owe a large preponderance of my progress to tutors who encouraged me always to be my best. I intend to assist individuals in academics who may struggle with specific topics. Having a reliable tutor will create a strong foundation for future courses and subjects.
My philosophy as a tutor has always been: if I am doing my job right, then I will not have to help my students for long. This is because my intention is to not only get my students caught up in their current class but to also prepare them for their future classes by teaching them the tools, tips, tricks, and techniques necessary for efficient learning. Many students believe that the only way to get good grades is to spend countless hours hitting the books; although, it is important to spend a good amount of time studying; more time does not always lead to better grades if that time is not spent efficiently. Tutoring is the most effective way to learn new concepts because when a student hits an obstacle and has difficulty fully understanding a concept, there is someone right there to show them the right way to think about it. This one-on-one experience is much more effective than the traditional classroom experience with a teacher that lectures to a class full of students who all have different learning styles and abilities. The personal experience allows us to remain on the same page as we go through the material to ensure that the student understands it every step of the way. When I work with students, I try my best to bring an open, warm, and friendly environment so that my students can feel comfortable to make mistakes and ask questions. This is the key to success because it points to what we need to focus on. An accurate analogy I once heard was that learning is like a puzzle, the student begins already having a few pieces in place from what they learned in the classroom, and it is my job as a tutor to recognize the blanks and provide the missing puzzle pieces so that the student can see the full picture and finally grasp the concept. My goal is to not only teach concepts to students but to also create a fundamental change in the way my students perceive their education so that they can recognize the importance of this opportunity and find the motivation within themselves to put in the work now so they can become successful later in their professional lives. Not only that, but I want my students to realize that this process can be fun and fulfilling when they see their hard work pay off. This way, after having learned all of the tools, tips, tricks, and techniques I have to offer them, they can take that knowledge and new found confidence and apply it, both in and outside the classroom.I am currently a Chemistry major with minors in Physics and Philosophy at U of M Dearborn. I am also a member of our University's Lacrosse team. I plan on earning my Masters of Arts in Teaching as well as my Teachers Certificate so I can live my dream of being a High School Chemistry Teacher and Lacrosse Coach so I can inspire others for a living.
I am passionate about helping students understand the complexities of finance, economics, and accounting. Having passed the CPA exams, I bring both academic knowledge and practical experience to my tutoring sessions. As I continue to develop my career in accounting, I find it incredibly rewarding to guide others through these subjects, which can often feel overwhelming. My goal as a tutor is to make these topics accessible and engaging, empowering students to not only succeed academically but also see the real-world applications of the material. Currently, I am pursuing a career in accounting and expanding my knowledge in finance and economics. These fields have always fascinated me, and I enjoy helping students make connections between theoretical concepts and practical skills. Whether it's breaking down financial statements, explaining economic principles, or guiding students through accounting problems, I focus on providing clarity and support. My tutoring style is student-centered and adaptable. I believe that each student has a unique way of learning, and I tailor my approach to suit their individual needs. I emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding, ensuring that students build a strong foundation for success. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy staying engaged in my community, spending time with family, and continuously learning about the evolving fields of finance and economics. I bring a well-rounded perspective to my tutoring sessions, aiming to inspire a deeper interest in these subjects.
Hi, my name is Mohamad Hamood. I graduated from the University of Michigan Dearborn with a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in psychology. I have a few years of tutoring under my belt, and I will make sure you not only understand how to get the correct answer but also understand what you're learning conceptually.
I am a lifelong learner. I received my Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan. I worked for years as an automotive engineer in vehicle development. Years later I made a career change to work full time in the ministry, first as a missionary and later as a church leader in the US. During this time, I went back to school where I received my Ph.D. in Comprehensive Theology from Trinity Theological Seminary. I have been an independent educator for years. I have tutored middle and high school students in mathematics and algebra, College students in Calculus, Physics and the sciences, and adult learners in history, applied theology and sciences as well. I am most passionate in Calculus and Physics because they are fundamental topics that I enjoy exploring and they are foundational for STEM related fields. I provide energy and zeal to all my students and work to inspire them to become better students and lifelong learners.
As a person of passion concerning academics, I am excited to devote my expertise to the subjects I have taken and mastered in my prior years of schooling. I have dealt with numerous students ranging from 10 to 25 years of age and am delighted to meet new, bright individuals wanting to increase their knowledge. I received my bachelor of science in psychology at the University of Michigan Dearborn and my bachelor of science in nursing. I am a cardiac nurse working 3 days a week, which makes my tutoring availability very flexible. My favorite subject to tutor has to be chemistry due to its applicable nature to everyday life. This makes it easier to understand conceptually, and I believe I know how to explain it in easy-to-understand terms. Regarding teaching styles, I usually like to get to know my students during our first session as a "freestyle" session to discover how they learn and plan my lessons for them accordingly. I am excited to meet my next students!
