I have earned my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from The College of Saint Scholastica. As a nurse, I have grown in my passion in educating my patients on their diagnoses, upcoming procedures, new medications, and discharge instructions. I also love teaching friends and family about medical phenomenons. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors and going on hikes year round.
I earned my baccalaureate in nursing from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, MN. I earned my MSN and PhD from the University of Phoenix online campus. I have been an RN for nearly 40 years and have a wide range of direct care experience. I have worked in small rural hospitals to large teaching hospitals as float pool, trauma, step-down trauma, ortho, neuro, and general med/surg. I have also served in administration for several years. For the past 14 years I have dedicated my career to helping educate the new generation of nurses. I am passionate about my students and their success. Tutoring allows me to get to know my students and their particular needs. Not everyone learns best in a classroom setting. I love tutoring a wide-range of topics, although my favorites are anatomy/physiology, fundamentals of nursing, medication math, pharmacology, and med/surg (which includes studying ABGs and labs). When not in my professional role, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
I have always had a passion for education. While pursuing my MS degree I was awarded a highly competitive Teaching Assistantship, which allowed me to experience teaching general biology and human anatomy at the university level. My strengths include being able to portray complex concepts and ideas in innovative ways to cater to all learning types,in addition to my strong interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with my undergraduate degree in Environmental Education and Recreation and I received my masters in Education from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. I have a background teaching in various settings including being a naturalist, coach and group fitness instructor along with teaching elementary students. I have an elementary teaching license and have experience teaching all subjects from Kindergarten through 6th grade. As a Title One interventionist I offered tutoring in schools to individuals and small groups in the subjects of math and reading. When I am teaching and tutoring I feel strongly that each student can be successful by nurturing their growth mindset and working with their individual learning style. In my spare time I enjoy spending time outdoors, knitting and doing yoga.
Hi, I'm Nick. Currently I am a Masters of Microbiology student at the University of Minnesota. I have a BA from the College of Saint Scholastica and have been a tutor for a year now. I enjoy teaching a lot and am also doing research. My research at the U of M is focused on green fluorescent protein infection studies with large, vacuolated sulfur bacteria.
