I have a Bachelors of Arts from University of Texas at Arlington and a Masters in Education from Texas A&M Commerce. I hold a teacher certification for Early Childhood through 4th grade. I have taught 3rd grade for 9 years, 4th grade for 2 years. I also worked in administration for 6 years and helped teachers implement new strategies to meet the needs of all learners. Through my 17 years in education, every year I have tutored, mentored and supported students and teachers in all subjects. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math, Science and English. I find much reward in relating information to the interest of the student so they find relevance with it. This helps with understanding and processing information. Once they find success with one thing, their confidence grows and this leads to more success. In my spare time, I enjoy playing games with my children and spending time outdoors, especially the beach.

I am a graduate of Texas A&M University - Commerce (often referred to as the teacher college) where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics while minoring in Spanish. With eleven years of teaching under my belt, I have vast knowledge and experience in helping students of varying ages learn both Math and Spanish. I am a 7th grade Reading teacher, prior to me becoming a reading teacher, I taught 8th grade Language Arts for two years. This is my third year of teaching, and I must say that I absolutely LOVE what I do! Nothing excites me more than seeing my students develop a passion for reading/writing and being able to analyze a text in ways that they never knew that they could do. Since graduation, I have gained experience in community development, retail merchandising and education. I served in the Air Force National Guard for 10 years and gained the rank of SSgt. I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students during my teaching tenure. I worked as a tutor at a private school where my primary focus dealt with reading, math and writing. Recently, I taught developmental writing at Eastfield College. My teaching and tutoring experience has empowered me to teach a range of subjects. My passion is writing and reading. I am a graduate of Texas A&M Commerce, Corsicana, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Reading in 2002. A few years later I continued my education with a Masters of Education. I taught in a public school setting for 19 years before I retired to spend more time with my husband and grandchildren. The first 11 years I taught Social Studies, which I would consider my first love. I have spent most of my teaching career preparing students for Standardized Tests, with a focus on Reading and Writing. In my spare time I enjoy traveling and camping in our RV.
