Hello!,My name is Michele Turecek. I have been a teacher for 17 years. I taught at a high school for 5 years. I decided to leave my job after I had my daughter. When she was almost a year old, I began teaching as an adjunct at a local community college here in Connecticut. I taught there for five years and once she started kindergarten, I decided it was time for me to take on more classes. I have been teaching online for five years and I absolutely love it. It gives me an opportunity to spend more time with my husband and daughter. I am currently teaching classes for Kaplan University, Argosy University and onsite at Post University.I have received a B.A. degree in English as well as M.A. and M.S. degrees in English and Education, respectively. My M.A. degree was completed entirely online. In my spare time (when I have any), I like to read and go biking with my family. I also took Taekwondo. I received my first degree black belt three years. I live in Naugatuck, Connecticut with my husband and daughter, Michaela (13). I have been married for 18 years and my husband is an elementary school music teacher. We have three cats who keep us hopping.I am excited to work with you!Michele
I graduated from National University in San Diego with my MA in history, and have been teaching history at the AP, IB, and college level since 2015. As an AP World History teacher, I helped students to better prepare for the essays, especially the Document Based Question through the analysis of both documents and visual images. I believe that so much of student success on the AP and IB history exams comes down to understanding the question, what's being asked and how it's being asked. Beyond the immediate benefit of AP and IB classes and testing, with the possibility of earning college credit, comes the realization that students can be empowered to explore the world and to understand their places within it.

My mission in life has always been dedicated to serving others. Whether professionally or personally, I have always had the desire to see and help others grow and help them reach their goals in life. I absolutely enjoy being a teacher and sharing my love for education with students and their families. I have made a commitment to being a life long learner and sharing my knowledge with students. I have found that building relationships, evaluating individual needs and applying focused planning enhances the learning experience. I am passionate about seeing each student performing at their highest level and beyond. I have many years of experience working with students with mild to severe learning disabilities and needs, therefore I am highly skilled in differentiated instructional methods.I enjoy providing tutoring services because it gives me the opportunity to work one on one with the student, helping to build their confidence and strengthen their skill sets. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, traveling and writing. I also enjoy sharing my traveling experiences with my students or suggesting a great book for them to read. This encourages my students to become life long learners as well. When we strive to to become life long learners, the possibilities are endless and that is something that I wish to instill with every student that I teach.
As an academic tutor, my most valuable asset is my nine years of diverse teaching experience in secondary English (Grades 7-12). Thus far in my teaching career, I have taught in public schools, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in South Korea, and a private college preparatory school. Each chapter of my exciting career in education has given me substantial experience using a diverse array of curriculum frameworks, writing instruction methodologies, test prep instruction, and pedagogical practices to help students grow as writers, readers, and communicators. My areas of expertise include, but are certainly not limited to, the Pennsylvania State Standards System and the Common Core, the IB Diploma Program and Middle Years Program, Advanced Placement test preparation (especially in English Language and Composition but also in Literature and Composition), the 6 + 1 Traits Writing instruction model, and instruction in journalistic writing and media literacy. As a high school English teacher, I revel in making complex literary texts or the struggle of the writing process accessible and even enjoyable for students, and I excel in individualizing instruction to specifically meet the unique needs of the students with whom I work. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy hip hop dance aerobics, hiking, learning about East Asian culture, and traveling whenever I can. My education and teaching career have opened a world of opportunity to me, and I am a firm believer in the power of education to create opportunity and open the world for any individual who will invest the time and effort necessary to pursue education and understanding. I look forward to helping you find academic success! My education and teaching credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in English from Liberty University, a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from National University, and a permanent Pennsylvania teaching certification for English, Grades 7-12 from the PA Department of Education.
With my many years of teaching experience, I have learned that the impact I have on my students is immense. A teacher has the power to make or break a child's mind and soul My choice is always to create. I believe that the young mind has the right to be given an opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge they can use throughout their lives. Every student no matter where they come from, what values they hold, and what culture they practice, they should have the opportunity have their minds cultivated and opened. It is only in this regard that they will have the knowledge and ability to think critically, believe in themselves and become citizens that contributes to society's well being.
Nurturing problem solvers through clarity and curiosity. I am a PhD-qualified educator in Business and Information Systems with experience teaching university students, professionals, and SME owners.
