I am a math nerd that graduated in Georgia. I recently moved to the Houston area to come back home and be with my family. I have tutored for years now and I recently graduated in May 2011. I am fresh out of college so I am fully capable of communicating the problems in terms most people can understand. I have a strong passion for math and nothing feels better then watching someone learn it.My favorite subject of all time is Calculus. It's so fascinating how so much stuff in nature can be described by it. I want to make other people share my love for it. I love all sports, especially football. My television is always on ESPN. I am a pretty laid back guy and I am easy to get to know.

I am a passionate tutor for young students ranging from kindergarten to middle school, motivated by my skill and experience in working with children for a number of years. My love for the educational environment and teaching methodology has led me to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have experience working with children through childcare, athletics, and tutoring. I have tutored students at libraries, virtually, and in school settings. As a tutor, I believe each student has a unique way in which they will comprehend the material effectively. Whether it is drawing out a visual aid, using real life examples, or analyzing the problem and breaking it down (colors are great for this), I can adapt quickly to a students situation to help them reach their goals. I am very cognizant of the extra support young students need with focusing and a structured learning environment, and have the confidence I can assist them to succeed with their work. Though I am well versed in all subjects, I favor the Language Arts and Reading subjects as an individual who finds joy in reading and writing in my leisure time. When I am not tutoring or in school, I find myself maintaining an active lifestyle spending time with my pets outside, running, doing ballet, or observing nature. I am looking forward to contributing to your student's learning success with my tutoring sessions!

I have always had a mind for mathematics and science. Because of this gift, I was always the one person in class everyone asked for help. I learned quickly how to teach others, which helped in my home life as I had a younger brother who was not so gifted in math. Through him, and his friends who also struggled with mathematics, I found that most people struggle with math because they believe it is too difficult. I believe by being a tutor and helping others learn I can impart my wisdom to the next generation and make a difference in the world. What sparked my interest in Biology was an interest in life. I loved animals and learning about them. This love for animals narrowed to a love of the complexity of the human system, which I am now studying. When I'm not studying I enjoy music of all genre. From VNV Nation to Trivium to Earth, Wind, and Fire, I love all music and can appreciate most music. I also enjoy reading novels, preferably those in the realm of science fiction. And though I can enjoy playing video games in a casual sense, I'd much prefer walking Kennesaw Mountain or skiing on Lake Altoona. It is my hope that through my experiences as a knowledgeable brother, friend, and tutor, I can also help a broader range of people learn the subjects they are experiencing difficulties in.

I am an undergraduate student at Kennesaw State University, pursuing a Bachelor in the Arts of English alongside a Minor in Professional Writing. Since I was a kid, I've loved reading and writing. After graduating, I decided to share my expertise with other students, and realized that English is a subject many students struggle in. It is a difficult subject to teach, but an important one in our day and age; whatever a student's aspirations may be, a firm grasp of reading and writing is an essential skill. That's why I'm so passionate about tutoring this subject. In a large classroom, it can be hard to take the time to give each student the personal attention they need. Every student's level of understanding is different, so I believe in offering specific, personalized help for students who want to improve their writing. I love tutoring all things English, from Essay Writing and Editing, to Reading Comprehension, all the way to Composition.I believe communication is essential to our professional and personal aspirations, and hope that my students and I can help each other learn and grow as readers and writers.

For my graduate career, I have been a part of two research studies about cyberbullying among college students. For those research studies, the studies consisted of researching scholarly sources, analyzing data, writing reports (the process of being published), creating posters, creating PowerPoints, and presenting at conferences. I have personally also been a Youth Develop Professional where I interacted with and assisted children between the ages of 4-17. After having a fantastic Spanish teacher starting in kindergarten through grade five, I had a bit of hiatus in my learning until going to college where I reached fluency by interacting with friends and teammates along with my own studying. Soon after beginning college, a synergy emerged when I bolstered my informal learnings of Spanish with formal university classes. I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.S. in Integrative Studies and a minor in Spanish in 2018 after testing out of several upper level Spanish courses. During my studies, I tutored fellow Spanish learning college students in the Foreign Language and Resource Center on campus, helping those having trouble along with those that wanted to put in extra work for the love of the language. I continued on to study abroad in Malaga, Spain where I was fortunate to be able to travel much of southern Spain, as well as Europe, learning bits of storied history and culture at every turn. It is my goal to help you achieve your goals! For students of all learning levels from struggling to gifted to adults; I am a passionate proponent of not just helping students learn the material, but helping them to learn how to learn the material by allotting focus on not just a student's goals, but the process therein. Some of my interests beyond Spanish and foreign languages are space exploration, playing guitar and soccer, technology, the outdoors and science fiction books and tv/film.

I've been a teacher and tutor for over 30 years, both in schools and online. I received my M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University in Georgia. I started out as a music therapist and have a bachelor's degree in music therapy. After working as a therapist for a few years I became certified as a Primary Montessori (ages 3-6) teacher. As a music therapist I worked with both children and adults but went into early childhood education when I realized that working with PreK and Kindergarten students was my passion. I love how open and honest kids in that age group are, even on the days when they ask, "Did you make your hair look like that on purpose?" I specialize in helping PreK students get ready for kindergarten and helping kindergarteners stay on or ahead of grade level if they're falling behind. My favorite subject to tutor is phonics/reading. I love seeing my students' faces light up when they realize they are reading by themselves! I love reading and want all my students to love it too! My teaching philosophy is centered around respecting students and appreciating who they are as individuals. I make lessons fun and use my guitar whenever I can. Everybody needs a dance break when they've been working hard on something! Sometimes I have a student who doesn't enjoy music and that's okay too. We probably still have something in common. My students know I love Marvel superheroes, unicorns, and coloring! When I'm not teaching I love spending time with my family and friends, listening to music, playing guitar, piano, or drums, reading, and hanging out with my dog. My favorite education quote came from Maria Montessori, who told a group of students that they would be ready to teach when they, themselves, were full of wonder. And I guess that's the best thing about spending so much time with children; they remind us to be full of wonder!

I am a passionate educator with a track record of helping students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities find success. I have a BS in Secondary English Education with a minor in Technical Writing, and I've used this training to teach traditional English, literature, and drama classrooms in 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th grades. I use the skills from my minor to break down information in a manageable way; after all, technical writing is all about providing clear, helpful instructions! In 2021, I received my MA in English with a graduate certificate in the theory and practice of teaching college writing. I use this degree to teach English 1101 and English 1102 at a community college in Georgia. I teach traditional and non-traditional students, including many high school juniors and seniors who are dually-enrolled. I specifically enjoy working with writers who lost opportunities to build foundational knowledge due to the COVID lockdowns and digital learning. I also have experience working with English Language Learners and individuals with special needs. I currently work full time as the Director of Programs and Education at a live performance theatre. This job allows me to teach literacy through drama to individuals between the ages of 5 and 100. As a teacher and tutor, my goal is to analyze the learning styles of my students and use the analysis to find ways of meeting them where they are. From there, we'll get them to wherever they want to be and beyond.

Everyone is naturally good at math. If you believe otherwise, I'd be happy to prove it to you! Math anxiety is real, and it's okay to have math anxiety. Sometimes, we need to hear things in a specific way to understand them- and that is what math gives us: The ability to understand multiple perspectives so we can grow. I started tutoring during college, in 1999, and I have been blessed to teach students with different educational goals from many different backgrounds since then. I struggled in high school because none of my teachers explained things the way I needed them explained. That drove me to educate myself and find creative ways to learn what I needed and what I wanted. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2006 from Southern Polytechnic State University. My grandfather and grandmother taught Math and Education classes at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), so I got my love for teaching quite honestly. I have over 20 years of experience teaching every age nearly every subject. My passion is mathematics, and I absolutely love writing papers and helping others learn. Your education is the one thing no one can take from you. I'd love to help you educate yourself!

I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering Technology. This means one thing: my skill set is solving problems and learning from failure. As a tutor, I enjoy taking various concepts, like Physics and Mathematics, and turning them into tools that my students can use to solve problems in their world. I also want my students to walk away feeling that they have learned a new skill and gained a new lens through which to see the world. This lens is specific to each person, and I enjoy learning to see things through their eyes. This allows me to help teach them how to frame any subject to fit inside a lens that is comfortable for them. Due to my education, most of the problems presented to me were solved with mathematics. As a result, I specialize in Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry. If it can be solved with math, I can solve it.

I am humbled to have the opportunity to relay my interest in writing to tutor with the Varsity Tutors organization. I have recently become fond of the field of Education due to my academic career and recent professional experiences. However, I have held a passion and curiosity for Foreign language learning since I began High School. Since, I have traveled to learn the French language and its culture, and now, I want to provide others with the confidence and opportunities to do the same.I have been privileged to live in two different countries, visiting seven in total. Naturally, these experiences have greatly impacted my outlook and perspective. As such, during my junior year in undergrad in Tours, France (Universit Franois Rabelais) and the following year, I spent time in Angers, France becoming familiar with the country's culture and the norms associated, which have now become effective learning tools that I can apply in my classroom. Here I spent the full academic school year teaching English to French primary school students from the ages of 6-11 years old.As a teacher of foreign languages, adaptation is key in order to witness true growth in each student's language skills. An effective teacher is one who is open to change and I have always incorporated various techniques in my teaching methods in both roles as a private tutor and as a teacher in France. I effectively engage my students by implementing elements of music, poetry, film, politics and others, through a variety of media (blogs, videos, and podcasts), which helps to reinforce grammar and vocabulary taught. Typical methods include approaches that concentrate on the four major areas of language learning: Oral Comprehension, Oral Expression, Written Comprehension, and Written Expression. Sources: RFI (Radio France Internationale, France 24, TV5 Monde, Le Gros Journal, etc.)I have 4-5 years experience in the Education Field and have been tutoring students in French and English for 2 years. Each of my former and current students would tell you that I am knowledgeable, thorough, and passionate and that I orient my lessons exactly the same way.Lastly, I am certain that I will make an effective teacher for the program and have a lasting impact on the students for several reasons. Multilingualism is becoming second nature in today's world, and I am certain that I can be a great influence in this area to inspire students to step out of their comfort zones in order to travel and learn about other cultures and their languages.Encouragement and patience are synonymous with my work style and match perfectly to what every student would need in a language teacher. Hence, I am certain that each of my experiences at home and abroad have provided me with the keys to be a successful French tutor.

Hello! Thank you for viewing my profile, I would like to share with you a little bit about myself, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have! I received my bachelor of science in Mathematics in 2016 and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics. While in school, I made it a point to take the most challenging math courses possible. I taught mathematics in the public school system for three years at the Middle and High School levels. Teaching is my passion. I find the greatest joy in helping my students reach their goals and become strong in math, especially when they believe that they are not naturally good enough to ever succeed in mathematics. I love when I work with a student who begins with the belief that they will never perform well in their math courses. Watching them learn, grow, and develop confidence in themselves is very special. For the students that already have confidence in themselves when it comes to their math abilities, I have no trouble pushing them to their limit, being tough on them so that they can reach their true potential. I do not view tutoring as simply helping a student through questions, my job is to empower the student to be able to solve these problems on their own and have the belief that they can reason through any problem no matter how challenging.Thank you again for visiting my profile and I look forward to working with you!
