I have been a classroom instructor of the Earth and Physical sciences since 1995. I really love science, especially astronomy. I loved learning about the universe since I was in elementary school. My love for science grew as I went through school. Having enthusiastic and caring teachers helped a lot. I understand the difficulties students face with science and math. The subjects can be quite intimidating. Well, put that all behind you. I will make sure that you are at ease with the subjects. I am happy to help you understand astronomy, intro. chemistry, intro physics, meteorology, geology, and pre-algebra. I'm not your typical instructor. My students looked upon me as a caring and nerdy guy. If you want help, then I hope to hear from you. Until then!

I am a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and University of New Haven. I graduated from University of New Haven with a Master's in Education, Secondary English Grades 7-12. I taught English for several years in the public school setting then worked in a juvenile training facility teaching English to at risk youth. I left teaching to raise my children during the past few years and have enjoyed tutoring on the side. I have worked with very diverse groups of students, abilities, and ages. No matter what the circumstances, though, I am able to develop a rapport with the student, which allows them to feel comfortable working with me as their tutor.I tutor a wide variety of subjects, but enjoy tutoring English writing and grammar the most. I love to read, so I want my students to feel as passionate about reading as I do. I also have a background in languages, which allows me to tutor foreign languages. I have traveled many places and been around many cultures so I feel this has made me a stronger teacher. I like to push my students while tutoring, but I like to make sure my student feels comfortable and are not afraid to ask questions if they are unsure of something. It is normal for children to struggle and often times they are not comfortable asking for help.In my spare time I love to travel, read, and hang out with my children. I love to see new places and experience new things.

From a young age, I always know that I wanted to be a teacher. I also constantly had my nose buried in a book, so becoming an English teacher was the next logical step. I graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2012 and taught for the next two years, 2012-2014. I thoroughly enjoyed my classes, but always felt that I would be better suited to working one on one with my students to individualize their educations and enable me to have meaningful discussions about the literature I so loved, something that I strove to incorporate into my classroom teaching. Since I left teaching in 2014, it has felt that something has been missing, and I can't wait to begin tutoring students to truly be able to work with them one on one and see them grow and learn.
An outstanding teacher has the skills and rapport to convey content in a meaningful and accessible manner to meet the needs of their students. An outstanding teacher can connect with students and use their interests to help guide instruction and expand student horizons. In addition, the outstanding teacher should be a skilled leader who can make all students feel welcomed and valued in the classroom to motivate students to strive for their best. The ability to promote equity and reflect in teaching practices further improves one's teaching ability. An outstanding teacher will collaborate with colleagues to refine teaching practices and share ideas and continue to find ways to growth professionally. The first step in addressing a wide range of skills and abilities in your classroom is to get to know the students to allow for student strengths and interests to help drive the learning environment. Leading about student needs, backgrounds, ambitions, goals, learning preferences, or favorite sport will all matter when addressing the needs in your classroom moving forward. After building strong connections with students, it will make facilitating differentiated instruction meaningful to content, process, and products to meet the skills and abilities in the classroom. Throughout the employing of these strategies and practices the need for reflection and refinement are necessary to help make students supported yet challenged.
I am excited about the opportunity to help someone improve upon or master a skill. I am passionate and very interested in human psychology and am about to obtain a Master's Degree in the field. I also love to travel, meet new people, and learn new things. I spend 2015 abroad, traveling 10 countries in 10 months in South and Central America and loved the experience of meeting new people and learning new cultures. My field of study and my traveling have taught me that it's possible to master anything with the right approach, be it a new skill or new knowledge. I think that every individual has their own approach to learning and improving and the key is to find the right approach for each individual. I have worked with multiple individuals for over the past 10 years and helped edit their essays and improve their writing style, gently guiding them to a better approach in writing and phrasing. I am also looking forward to helping someone in the field of psychology, something that I am passionate about. Finally, as a native Russian speaker, I would love to help anyone who is learning this challenging language. I am easy-going and friendly and am looking forward to working with new students!
I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and earned a B.A. Special Education Teacher k-12. I also earned an M.A. for teaching grades k-12. I worked a full time teaching position for the Hartford public Schools. My classroom was self-contained that was composed of ASD,PDD students, and many had severe behavioral issues. The students in my class were deemed "un-teachable" With the exception of one child all of my kids graduated in the mainstream! I am a very strong reading and math teacher at the elementary and middle school level. I use a multi-kinesthetic approach which enhances memory; while additionally we are having a lot of fun learning. I know my core curriculum and special needs is definitely a strength for me. I teach with a passion, and the kids always love me. I am also dependable, honest, and punctual. I have been able to reach several children, where others have failed.
