I am a graduate with a degree in Mathematics from a top university in Massachusetts and earned my master degree in education. I have more than 20 years of experience tutoring and teaching math at several colleges in Massachusetts. I enjoy tutoring elementary, middle and high school math. I believe in incorporating real world examples to help students understand the application of math in the real world.

I am an educator in the Boston area with a strong background in reading, writing, and middle and elementary math.Having attended some of the most prestigious elementary and high schools in the state (The Park School and Milton Academy), I have gained a strong desire to help others attain that same level of education and skills. I have been in education for 17 years, having started at a small private school in Quincy, MA. I have worked there ever since and have completed my Bachelors in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education. I received a BA in Psychology from Rhode Island College and a Master of Education degree from Cambridge College in Massachusetts. My experience with students includes internationally teaching english and health as a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, to helping US high school students prepare for the world of work. As an adjunct professor at a Community College, I taught many subjects including writing, critical thinking, psychology and study skills strategies. I greatly enjoy recognizing the potential in students and helping them strengthen their academic skills. I tutor reading, study skills, writing and composition. I love to teach! I like to be that person that will help you say "I get it!" Sharing my knowledge, especially my culture and and language, has become my life passion. In teaching I have found what I do best and what makes me happy. I have experience tutoring Spanish for fifteen years to students from children to adults. I arrived from Honduras twenty five years ago. I had my High School diploma and I did not speak a word of English. I went to school and worked hard to achieve my ultimate goal which was to be the first one in my family to earn a college degree. My children now are following my footsteps. I am a graduate of The Fort Valley State University and Cambridge College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing. I also received my Masters of Education degree where I focused on Elementary Education. Since graduation, I have worked as a substitute teacher for over 15 years, taught first and second grade at a private Christian school and taught middle School Science and Social Studies in an inner city school, and lastly, trained new providers on the electronic medical records along with new IT projects in a hospital setting. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English and Elementary Math. In my experience helping struggling students takes understanding how and what is necessary to help students from different backgrounds learn so they can begin to love learning and want to learn more. I am a firm believer that education is the key to understanding this world in which we must live, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I give this credit and this appreciation to all of my students.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine. As a child, I would "tutor" other children through my mother's at-home day care. As young as eight years old, I was teaching the concepts of letter sounds and addition. Now, into my adult years, I have carried this passion all the way through. I earned my Master's Degree immediately upon finishing my Undergraduate Degree. I have even gone on to receive thirty graduate credits beyond my Master's Degree which allows me to constantly reflect on my practice as a teacher to make room for improvement. I am a member of my school's Data Teams to discuss student concerns and come up with strategies to meet their needs in the classroom through regular education supports. I also serve on the Superintendent's Roundtable in my district where I meet with the Superintendent to discuss curriculum and new initiatives as they impact the district. Furthermore, I am a mentor to new teachers. I coach and guide them to show them new and innovative ways to teach while simultaneously helping them to feel comfortable and confident in their practice. I am articulate and driven and to me, the greatest gift is that of teaching. The feeling you get when you see a child apply a concept you taught them is unlike any other. I want to be the one to help your child succeed.Though I am a full-time classroom teacher, tutoring has always been one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy having the opportunity to work with students one-on-one to truly allow them to get the individual instruction and attention they need and deserve. I also enjoy reading, running and exercising in general. I am an aunt to three lively boys and a beautiful baby girl. I spend a lot of time with my family and friends.

I grew up in Canada and my first degree was from Mt. St. Vincent Women's University in Nova Scotia, Canada. I received a B.A. in political science with a double minor in Women's Studies and Psychology. From there, I moved to the United States, where I started teaching and earned my Master's degree in Education, Special Education from Cambridge College. I went on to complete an Ed.S. online with Old Dominion University in Virginia, with the hopes of doing my doctorate. I stopped my doctorate before completing my dissertation during COVID as the school I was attending closed its doors permanently, and I haven't found an alternative. I may go back someday and finish, but for now, I'm happy with things as they are. I love teaching reading the most, because I am such an avid reader and feel that it is a wonderful skill to have. I have worked in other subjects such as Writing and Social Studies, but I am most passionate about teaching reading and helping students to overcome their struggles with that subject. I have been teaching for all of my adult life and started when I was 17 years old as a tutor for older adults who struggled with literacy skills. This ignited my passion for teaching. My love of teaching has stayed with me for my entire life and though it has been tested over time, I have never thought of doing any other job. My philosophy includes believing that all people are deserving of an education that can help enrich their lives and advance their skills. My life involves enjoying music, writing, reading, animals and nature. Those are the things that have helped me cope with things beyond my control, as well as have provided much-needed alternatives during this new post-pandemic world. I did suffer mild disabilities in speech and Math as a student when I was a kid, so I am particularly sensitive to the needs of students with disabilities.
