As a child, Keisha was a struggling student and gave teachers a hard time. Her mother sent her to spend summers with her Aunt who is a teacher in Florida. It was through her Aunt's influence Keisha discovered she wanted to be a teacher. In 2004, she went to Sacred Heart University and graduated with a Bachelors in Sociology. Keisha's extracurricular activities during college focused on working with students in urban areas where she tutored and mentored. After her undergrad, she spent three years working as Preschool teacher at a federally funded Head Start program serving low-income families. In 2012, she moved on to working as a para-professional at a local charter school in Bridgeport CT. In August 2014, Keisha earned a Masters in Early Childhood Education and then moved to Newark, NJ where she became a state certified teacher. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Keisha loves to listen to music, read, watch movies, and cook. Keisha has the passion to teach, encourage, and bring hope to students.
