Hello and nice to meet you! My name is Ms. DelGreco and I'm excited to *potentially* be your tutor! Here is a little bit about me... First and foremost, the most important thing that needs to happen in order for students to be successful is that they need to feel safe, seen, heard, and understood by their teachers and other adults in their lives. Your tutor should be no different and should make you feel just as comfortable as your favorite teacher does. My favorite subjects in school were English/ELA, History, and ART! I love a good story, so naturally I was drawn to ELA and History. My mom is an artist and got my brother and I into art when we were very young. When I got to college I learned there was such a thing as "Art History"! I absolutely loved it and ended up getting my Bachelor's in History with a concentration in Art History. Speaking of school, I think I can be considered a professional student at this point. Why? Because I have three degrees; yes, three! I love to learn new things! I have a CAGs (Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study) in Educational Leadership, a Master's in Teaching Secondary Education - History, and a Bachelor's degree in History/Art History. When I'm not being a professional student, I am being a professional teacher. I have been teaching for the last 12 years in an urban school district north of Boston, MA. In my first few years of teaching, I was a Math and Science teacher at an alternative high school and eventually became the Center Director of that school. For the last 10 years, I have been a middle school Social Studies teacher. I have taught Ancient Civilizations, Geography, and Civics. I have also tutored and taught credit-recovery History classes to high school students. Those classes were: History of the United States I and II and World History I and II. History can be a very dry and boring subject, so I do my best to make the lessons, work, and assessments project based, student focused, student led, and dare I say...fun? In my 12 years of teaching I've found that you're more likely to want to learn something new if it's engaging. To give you a better idea about the kind of teacher I am and tutor I will be, here are some quotes from some former students. Prompt: What was your favorite class this year? Responses: "Geography because Ms. DelGreco would always keep calm and do fun stuff with us." "GEOGRAPHY BECAUSE I GOT TO LEARN NEW THINGS" "World geography because it's the best and the thing is if you get Ms. DelGreco she's the nicest" Prompt: Who was your favorite teacher this year? Responses: "Ms. DelGreco she was the most understanding teacher and she made the class easy and fun" "Ms. Delgreco because she is a very outgoing and open minded teacher that understands anything you tell her." "Ms. DelGreco because she always motivated me and helped no matter what." Prompt: What advice would you give to future students about this class? Responses: "As long as you give it 100% for most of the time, and you're honest with Ms. DelGreco, you will have the most FUN class ever. ;) " "She is chill and you can trust her with anything. You have helped me through my ups and downs and I always looked up to you. I know you're my teacher but you're like a mom to me." Thank you for considering me to be your tutor and I hope we get to work together soon! - Ms. DelGreco

Hello Everyone,I was educated in the field of teaching education beginning with my undergraduate at Westfield State University in Visual Art Education in 2004. In 2013 I enrolled in the TESL Masters program at Salem State University, and graduated from that program in 2016, with a focus on urban and inner city language. I have also almost completed an additional Masters Degree in Special Education from Cambridge College. My experience with students stems from 15 years teaching Special Education in the Lynn Public Schools, as well as the last 4 years as an adjunct professor at North Shore Community College teaching ESL to adults and English Composition 101. I have also mentored with RAW Arts Project LAUNCH where I was paired up with a High School Senior and helped them with the college process. From essay writing, applications, financial aide and more. The subject that I specialize in is teaching ESL to students of all ages involving all aspects: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, as well as grammar and syntax, essay composition and more.My favorite subject that I like to tutor is writing. I love to read a students work and in the process you can learn so much from your student. My teaching philosophy is that all students have the ability to learn, it just takes patience and understanding of your students as individual learners, finding strengths and weaknesses, and getting to know your student on a personal level. My interests outside of teaching are that I am an avid SCUBA diver, as well as an accomplished musician. I play most instruments fairly well and have been playing in bands for over 20 years. I also LOVE to go to the beach to kayak, snorkel, and swim, as well as hanging out with my dog Pearl.

I believe that everyone can learn. While sometimes education takes a one size-fits-all approach, and everyone is expected to learn the same thing at the same time, using the same methods, in reality that doesn't always work. I have witnessed first hand how frustration can stop a student in his or her tracks. Many times I have seen students put themselves down and give up on learning. Sometimes they believe that when they didn't understand something fast enough, that maybe they just can't do it. This is never the case. There are many ways of approaching new knowledge and new skills, and students can very quickly begin to see how their own learning process works. One of the things I enjoy doing with my students is helping them to gain insight into how they learn, so that not only will they experience mastery today, but they will gain new understanding going forward as well.
