Meet Justin

Justin took up magic as a 12-year old when he broke both of his arms and his doctor recommended card tricks as a way to recover strength in his wrists and hands. Ever since, he’s been performing for audiences big (Netflix, Comedy Central, The Tonight Show) and small (you may remember him from the St. Louis birthday party circuit in the 90s). As host of the hit show Magic For Humans he’s famous for blending magic with humor. Alas, he has zero experience as a licensed boat mechanic (that's a different Justin Willman).

Justin’s Daily Magic

Justin knows how to make a few magic ingredients go a long way–after all, he’s also a Food Network host. So each day, campers will learn a different magic “ingredient” as they cook up tricks and full performances of their own.

Monday: Card Tricks Justin got his start with card tricks and campers will too, learning how to force cards, give audiences the illusion of choice, and how to build to a dramatic reveal.

Tuesday: Making Things Disappear Every magician needs ways to make objects disappear. Today, campers will learn the classic French Drop technique and practice the secrets to turning something into nothing.

Wednesday: Making Things Appear Where did that come from?! Today campers will master tricks that feature palming and other techniques to seemingly make objects appear out of nowhere.

Thursday: Misdirection & Audience Psychology Magicians are master manipulators, and today campers will learn how to direct audience attention where they want it and practice tricks that take advantage of audience psychology.

Friday: Everyday Magic With a handful of techniques and a little preparation and practice, you can make magic out of basically anything. Today campers will practice tricks that can turn any room into a magical stage.

Small Groups, Expert Instructors

Camp sessions feature small groups of 6-9 campers led by an expert instructor, ensuring maximum participation, guidance, and collaboration. Instructors are chosen after an extensive vetting process that includes teaching demonstrations, background checks, and interviews to ensure both subject mastery and teaching ability.

AfterCamp Abracadabra Challenges

After daily sessions–like magic –there’s plenty more to do in the Camp Clubhouse, including on-demand lessons from Justin, online challenges to learn more about magic, and downloadable activities to learn and perform new tricks.
