The Best New Year's Resolution to Improve My Student Success by Tori - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
My New Year’s resolution that will help me become a better student in 2016 is to improve my overall well being. I plan to accomplish this by putting an emphasis on my physical, mental and emotional well being. Improvements to my overall well being will be reflected in my grades and the success of completing my degree.
To begin, I will work to accomplish a positive physical well being. I will provide myself with plenty of rest, exercise and healthy eating. Our bodies are to be taken care of and with health at its best we are able to conquer our goals appropriately. According to New York Times, studies suggest, “college students who want to boost their grades can start by boosting their level of exercise”. Therefore, it is essential to stick with a good exercise program that will release endorphins and keep my mind clear to result in even better grades. A good night’s sleep is also essential for maintaining a good education. According to an article written by Huffington Post, Dr.Stijn Baert states, “new knowledge is integrated into our existing knowledge base while we sleep” and students generally do better on tests when they have a good night’s sleep. To be a successful student I will maintain a proper sleep schedule to ensure I am able to work at my best ability. Eating healthy can improve my physical well being further contributing to my success as a student. Improving my physical well being is a step to improve my overall well being that will improve my educational experience.
Another way to contribute to my overall well being and success as a student is to improve my mental and emotional being. I intend to surround myself with positivity. Having a positive life will create positive results in my student life. I will take time to meditate, introduce activities into my life that inspire me, and partake in activities that provide a sense of accomplishment. I intend to volunteer more often to help those with disabilities and individuals in need. Giving back to the community is an important part of improving self esteem. Helping people and seeing the smile on their face, with the knowledge that you improved someone’s life is a wonderful feeling that enhances my mental and emotional well being. Inspiring others and bringing people together to encourage their success will motivate me even further to continue my education and help create a brighter future for generations to come. Improving my mental and emotional well being leads to my success as a student.
My goal of improving my overall well being will impact my success as a student in 2016. Healthy lifestyle choices will be reflected in my academic improvement. A positive mentality will lead to excessive motivation to contribute to my studies. My overall positive well being is the key to accomplishing my educational goals and become the best student that I can possibly be.
