Teon Smith
New Year’s Resolution
My name is Teon Smith; I am currently a junior at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School. My New Year’s resolution is to budget money better. I have been employed for almost 5 months and I've been doing fairly well with my money but I can do a lot better. This is my resolution because I will be going off to college soon and budgeting my money will be crucial if I am to survive in college.
In the fall of 2017 I plan to attend Florida Gulf Coast University. There will be plenty of expenses that I will have to cover myself. With that being said, budgeting my money will be key to my survival. There will be dorm fees, food cost, unexpected expenses, and even a few extracurricular activities that I may want to attend. All of the listed necessities cost money and unfortunately I do not have an abundance of it. I can list many different scenarios in which I will need money but he point has been made
Prior to my departure to a higher institute of learning, I must begin to save now. As I stated before, money is not of great abundance in my family. With that being said I will need to do whatever I can to save money. I have a part time job, a supporting mother, and a dream. That alone has been fueling me on my quest to college and my New Year’s resolution should be another milestone to tackle on this quest
To be completely honest, when answering the question at hand, the options are limitless. However, budgeting my money will not only help me as student but as an adult later on in life. No matter my age or occupation I will need to be financially responsible. That is why budgeting my money better will be my New Year’s resolution for 2016.
