An Involved Life is a Happy Life by Shelby - October 2015 Scholarship Essay

As a high school student who is involved in many activities, I am a strong advocate for getting involved in your school. My extracurricular activities, such as, soccer, student council, and academic societies, have taught me many things about life and education. Schools require us to take certain classes that teach us educational skills, but students then miss out on the opportunity to learn life skills. Schools should require students to become involved in at least one extracurricular activity to be eligible for graduation because it will allow their college applications to look more impressing, it will allow them to create bonds with their peers, and it teaches students valuable life skills.
Sports, clubs, and societies are a great way to get involved in schools. Colleges often look at more than just grades. Colleges like to see students that are involved in their school and community. If schools were to require students to join in at least one activities, then no student would have the problem of not having a well-rounded transcript. This will allow all students to have the opportunity to qualify for better jobs and better schools. Schools should require students to participate in a minimum of one extracurricular activity to qualify for graduation because it will allow the student to have a diverse high school background that allows them to excel in jobs and colleges.
As a soccer player, I have made many unbreakable bonds with my teammates that will last a life time. Requiring students to get involved could turn around a person's life and allow them to create long-lasting relationships with other students, teachers, and coaches. Having a support system like this creates a positive environment and allows students to feel accepted and taken care of. Schools should require students to participate in extracurricular activities because it allows students create bonds with others in their schools and create friendships that last a life time.
Extracurricular activities teach you more than just how to hit a ball or how to play an instrument. Extracurriculars teach students valuable life skills, such as, how to interact with others, how to work well in groups, and how to be problem-solvers.These types of skills can carry students into a successful job or college life. Requiring students to be involved in these activities will help them to learn valuable life skills that they couldn't get in a class room.
There are many reasons why I believe extracurricular activities are necessary. Many students of often can feel bullied or like they don't belong, but things like sports, academic societies, and other groups will help students have a place in high school. Being apart of something will make the students closer and allow them to get along easier. Schools should require students to become involved in at least one extracurricular activity to be eligible for graduation because it will allow their college applications to look more impressing, it will allow them to create bonds with their peers, and it teaches students valuable life skills.
