Opportunity by Rachel - November 2015 Scholarship Essay
Rachel M. Murray
Opportunity
Many teenagers and children dread the thought of going to school everyday. They cannot wait until the weekend comes up so that they can take a break from their education, but I believe this is a very selfish thing children and teens do nowadays. In America, we are lucky enough to have free public schooling and having access to so many different facilities and programs to further our education. I am so thankful that here, we get opportunities that are not always available elsewhere and I would never feel the need to complain about too much education.
I am grateful about all aspects of my education system. Without going to the schools that I did, there would be so many missed opportunities that I couldn’t make up, not just scholarly opportunities either. I have been opened up to high school cheer, AVID, science, and finally ended up where I am today a few months away from ascending into my future education.
I am grateful that I get hands-on opportunities in almost every class I have taken. Since I am not a visual or auditory learner, the best way for me to understand certain subjects is by doing hands-on activities or conducting hands-on experiments.
Needless to say I am not one of those people who complains about too much homework or waking up too early, I appreciate what I am given and where it has led me.
