Varsity Tutors Scholarship Essay by Rachael - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
I think that the New Year’s Resolution that would possible help me become a better student would be to work harder and study harder. This will improve my grades, make me more prepared for college and help me understand the topics talked about in class better. I am going to go into more detail about each of these reasons.
The way that this will help me understand the topics spoken about in class is that it will require me to take notes. This is part of the work harder portion of the resolution. Taking notes will allow me to have the knowledge of the topics that will be spoken about in class. This will in turn also help improve my grades.
The way that it will improve my grades is that taking notes help put information more permanently in your brain. Because of this it will be easier to study for tests and quizzes, which will also help me answer the questions more easily. Since tests and quizzes are a big part of my grade, it will without a doubt help improve my grades overall. This, in turn, will also help me be more prepared for college.
The way that this will help me is that it will give me the necessary knowledge and know how to take placement exams and get in better classes. This will help me be a better student because I will learn more. Since I would be learning more I would have more knowledge in my first year of college than some of those who just get by in high school and then get accepted into college.
As you can see, these steps, if followed, would help me or anyone become a better student. If you really want to get the most out of your education and the most bang for your buck, which I do, then you will stick with this one New Year’s Resolution. I hope that I will actually stick with it and not slack off so that I can be ready for college in the fall.
