What I Would Change For This Coming Year in 2016 by Nicholas - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
My name is Nicholas Herridge, and I fell short of my education goals this past year. Coming out of my freshman year of college I thought I set myself up really well for a successful next year, however, it took a turn entering fall as a second year. I had set myself up with a very high GPA enetering the collage of engineering and had gotten must of my first year courses out of the way. This fall I did not meet my goal.
For the fall semester I took charge of my studies going to office hours and to free tutoring one a week to help understand Calc 2 a little better before the weekly quizes. At the end of the semester I had completed all of the science course needed to be admited to my major; however I did not pass my math course to adavnce to calc 3. As a result I will Be a semester behind as the other major courses require a passing grade of a C or higher for Calc 2.
The mission for sucess. My resolution is to attack this spring semeter with all I have. I want to pass this Calc 2 course for engineers with flying colors. To Do this im going to go to more tutoring session provided by the department not just once a week but two to three times; additionally, I am going to meet with my professor on a weeekly basis and utlize his/hers office hours. In doing these tasks, I believe I can pull myself up again and bring my GPA back to an honorable status, one I can be proud of. This is my plan. I want to succeed. No more taking steps backward; I can not afford many more.
Thank you for your time,
Nicholas Herridge
