Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Healthy Student by Morgan - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

As a senior verging on the end of my first semester, I am faced with many choices that will impact my future. As a last-year high school student entering into 2016, I am faced with many tasks and endeavors to secure a bright path ahead of me. When the new year rang around, I had no trouble picking out a resolution to stick to. In 2016, starting January 1st and hopefully routinely continuing for the rest of my life, I will be more persistent with my “healthy body, healthy mind” attitude. By working to maintain my health both mentally and physically, I have no doubt that being a “healthy student” will follow in suit.
Having a healthy mind is defined by more than one would think. In my journey towards a healthier mind, I will also achieve a healthier state of thought. I intend to focus more on positive, uplifting ideas rather than negative and belittling thoughts. Entering into a crucial turning point in my life, I intend to push on with bravery and good hopes. My greatest goal in life is to be happy and successful in whatever I may end up doing, and that begins with a healthy mindset. While I have lacked in confidence in recent years, I will stick to my New Year’s resolution and work to turn my thoughts around to project self-confidence, integrity, and positivity.
A healthy mind is step one, and with this goal achieved I can be more persistent in my approach to a healthy body. While I am always active in one way or another, a healthy body goes beyond this. The cliche resolution of working out is on my agenda, but this is only a small part of my goals for myself in 2016. Working out will do wonders in many areas, including my mindset. A healthy mind and body go hand-in-hand. As I am physically growing stronger, I will be mentally tougher as well.
In every area of my life, I strive to do my best. My education is particularly important to me in this endeavor. Considering college is right around the corner, a healthy mind and body can only work in my favor. Being healthy all around will help my student abilities greatly by aiding in areas and destroying behaviors. With a healthy approach, I will be more focused and less stressed, allowing me to stay on task and complete the many things on my agenda. I will feel better by going healthy which will in turn give me more energy to give my all in these last short, few months.
While my resolution may seem to be a cliche one, I have many great intentions. A healthy mind and healthy body will ultimately aid me in ending my senior year as an even healthier student. In this time of my life, healthy and smart decisions are pertinent. By making a healthy routine a habit, I give myself the opportunity to enter into a new chapter of my life with positivity and strength. Whatever may come my way in 2016, I accept, just as I have this new lifestyle.
