Dreams Come True by Michelle - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

Something that I have learned during my high school career is that the decisions I make now ultimately affect me in the future. I remember when I had no clue of what I wanted to be when I got older or what I would do to get there. As a matter of fact, I still do not know how I came to the conclusion of what I want to be. One thing I can say is that you have to find a career that you absolutely love because if not, you will regret it. Your career should be a part of you, when you tell someone what you do for a living it should describe a piece of you like an interest, hobby, or something that you are passionate about. The problem is that most people don’t know these aspects about themselves. To my understanding and through experience you find these things by being proactive. You have to get out there and try new things, things that may take you out of your comfort zone.
As for me, in 10 years I see myself living out in the country in a large 2-story craftsman style home with a wrap-around porch residing on two acres of land. I will work at the local hospital as a Physician Assistant in Neonatology. Of course in order for me to get to this point I will need an education. The education that I receive will allow me to obtain my future career choice after all of my schooling is said and done. With my career in my hands, I will be able to financially support myself in order to achieve my goal of living my own version of the American dream: to be able to wake up in the morning and have nice cup of coffee on my porch while looking at the sun’s beautiful hue as it rises perfectly over my large clean-cut land.
