Free Education by Madelynn - November 2015 Scholarship Essay

Many developing countries around the world do not give students the privilege of getting a free education. Some of those countries do not even give women the option to go to school. In the United States, you have the option of getting a free education and being able to go to school if you are female. That is what I am most thankful for.
Some children in America do not come from households where their parents can afford to send them to school. Those children would miss out on basic skills such as reading and writing because their parents cannot afford to send them to school.
This could also lead to children not having very good social skills. Going to school teaches people how to act and speak with other people in certain situations. If we did not have free schooling, some kids would miss out on this learning opportunity. America's education would rapidly go downhill because of the minimum amount of schooling that children are receiving.
Being a female in some other countries is a hard task. You are not able to do anything without asking permission. Most importantly, women are not able to go to school and get an education. That is what I am thankful for about America's education system. Women are able to go to school and get an education, and most of them succeed.
I am thankful for the United States to free schooling. Without it, our country would be in turmoil. Children would miss out on basic learning skills like reading and writing, they would not develop good social skill, and the country itself could be at risk for losing money from other countries.
