In 10 Years... by Keegan - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
In 10 years I hope that I am happy with my life. In 10 years I will be in my late 20s and I honestly just want to be happy. I hope by that time I will have traveled to at least one country out of the US. Outside of the US I want to travel to different countries and experience new cultures. One of the biggest reason I would like to travel is because I want to see some of the wonderful places on Earth. An area on my bucket list is going to the Great Barrier Reef, not only because it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world, but also because I want to become someone who would be able to study during my career. My goal in life to graduate college as a biologist.
My dream to become a biologist who is on her way to making significant advances in the biological field. I know that my education in high school and in specifically college will give me the resources to achieve my goal of becoming a biologist. I have known since the beginning of grade school that I wanted to go into a field that was connected to animals somehow; I found that going into biology would be the best option. While getting a bachelor’s degree in biology I want to either get a concentration or a minor in both zoology and marine biology. These fields are the ones I would like to work in and help conserve but also study animals. I want to be able to see these animals in the wild and just see their magnificence.
I know in college I will have a multitude of resources handed to me including labs and in the field experience. Many colleges offer internships and study abroad opportunities that I could potentially participate in. These unique opportunities are one of the perks that I can only get in college. I will also make connections with professors and others that I know will be beneficial later in life. College is not only a great experience but a place to really harness your energy on something that you love. In 10 years I want to look back on my education in college and know that I got a great education that will give me an edge when looking for a job. I want to be appropriately challenged and be inspired to do all the things I set my mind to.
