Education is quite complex, but yet so simple. As a sophomore in college, I have grown fond of learning more and gaining insight to enable me to strive for my goals in life. With that being said, there is a plethora of things I am thankful for in regards to my education; however, I believe that this appreciation goes back to the beginning of my first encounter with knowledge. The moment that the seeds of reading and writing were planted long ago into my 5 year old brain, I was given the key to a being a influential individual.
I am appreciative of my kindergarten teacher. She is the one that taught me how to sound out my vowels and dot my i’s. She may never know the impact she made on the little girl with freckles and pigtails. I would like to thank her for paving the road to my success. All the practice of sentence making, and putting my thoughts into words have had influence on more people than myself. Because of my learning how to read and write I am able to be the civilian, daughter, friend, and overall person I am today.
The gift of reading and writing gives me the capability of speaking up for what I believe in when put under pressure. In addition to this, I am given the power to uplift others and fulfill my goal of becoming a professional singer. I will string words together to create songs that will move people’s hearts and push them to become thankful for the little things in life.
Words hold power. Words hold meaning. Education is the art of words and for this I am thankful.
