Extra-Curricular High School Activities by josh - October 2015 Scholarship Essay

If the point of school was to gain knowledge of history, english, math, and science, then there should be absolutely no extracurricular activities. However, the point of school is not this way. We attend school to better ourselves, and if the students only goal is to gain knowledge is foolish.
Students should strive to share their knowledge with others younger and older, to involve themselves in charity work where they themselves learn real world skills such as communication and people skills.
Physical activities should also be tried and attempted. Healthiness is an important part of life and it is very challenging to master. Because it's so hard, people might not learn it on their own, which might result in obesity and missing out on life adventures.
Student government teaches team skills, one of the most difficult attributes to learn. There are different people in the world, and knowing how to communicate clearly and show leadership to all forms is quite difficult and complicated.
Knowledge alone is not enough and never will be enough. Change is scary and sometimes we need a push to help us for the better. If we are not growing, then we are decaying. There is no state of neutral in the eternal battle for the betterment of ourselves.
