Where i see myself in 10 years. by Josayrie - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
In the following years I’ll have graduated from the University of Southern California with my bachelors. Definitely I’ll still be in college going towards my masters. There are lots of things that could happen, opportunities that could pop up, and people that I could meet that I never expected. In my ideal world, 10 years from now I’d be working to improve my business.
People like to dream about what you get when you choose to become an entrepreneur the expensive cars, mansions, and vacations in Cabo. But what about what you give up? You can’t wait to quit your 9 to 5, but you don’t realize that you are more than likely replacing it with longer hours that are several days a week. You’re ready to take more vacations and work from anywhere, but if you don’t spend years financing beforehand you won’t have the income to support it. I expect my business to become a large company that makes a very big impact in the fashion community and does a lot to give back to charity. I want my business to be one of the best enterprise companies. In 10 years I want to build my headquarters as well as several stores around the world.
In my personal life, I’ll be living in California, enjoying the business lifestyle. I will often travel to different parts of the world for business. Whether it’s traveling from one state to another, or traveling from one continent to another working. I want to live a happy fulfilled life, with lots of love. I would be able to spend time with my family helping them with any obstacles that goes our way. I’m not exactly sure if I would be married by that time. Marriage and/or kids aren’t a necessity. I see myself in a position where I'm an independent person who manages her own work. I want to be in a position where I can have my own identity, not to be known as someone else’s wife. But if I were to be married by that time I want to have a house full of kids. I would encourage my kids to explore their options and follow their dreams. I would show them that hard work does pay off and dreams do come true, if you work hard.
I know with the right education, I’ll get pointed in the right direction. For example, in college I’ll be learning business management skills and with that knowledge I’ll have the ability to operate my own business. Part of the college experience is self-discovery, self-improvement and personal growth. Students figure out who they are by being on their own, away from parents and family support for the first time. They develop a deeper understanding of life once they’re out on their own. These experiences can boost a student's confidence, and social skills all of which can help with careers and a positive adult life. Throughout my life I would plan out how I want my future to go, whether it’s my education, financial position, or social status. I always included college in my life plans. College is an important part in my life; it’s the next step to making my dreams come true. Without college I wouldn’t know what else to do, I wouldn’t know what the next step is or how to take it. Therefore this is why I find my education to be a necessity.
