Our Teachers by Jeremiah - November 2015 Scholarship Essay

Like many students across the nation, I believe there are some glaring flaws in our education system. Even though these problems will likely persist long after we have graduated and moved on to the next stage of our lives, it is important to think back and remember the good parts. I am most thankful for some of the fantastic teachers I have had over the years. Sure, sometimes you may get an awful teacher and your personalities clash anytime one of you opens your mouth. But sometimes, you get that teacher who truly cares about you and would do anything she could to help you succeed.

Thinking back about all of the teachers I have had throughout the years, I have realized I do not remember the ones I hated. I remember all of my favorites, like my 3rd grade teacher who took me to the public library so I could borrow the Harry Potter books. I remember the teachers who went above and beyond what they had to do, like my 6th grade English teacher, who could always cheer someone up when they were down. I remember the teachers who treated me like their own child, such as my AP Chem teacher, who acted like my second mother anytime I needed something.

Teachers have one of the most difficult jobs in the world. They have to deal with children, ranging from pre-schoolers all the way to high school seniors, and we all know just how stubborn and annoying those students can be. But our teachers continue to help us grow and become good people. They know what we can become if we apply ourselves. They want us to succeed.
