Not Falling Short of my Expectations by Javier - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
Why do I always come so close? Throughout high school I was always the A-, B+ student. If I was shooting for 90% I would get an 89%. If I needed a 26 on ACT, I would score a 25 and so on. I've always missed my goal by one lousy point.
My New Year's Resolution for 2016 is not to fall short on any of my goals. I am going to have higher expectations for myself and simply work harder. I was just admitted into FSU this spring and I'm determined to do very well. I want to be very successful in life. One goal that I have made for myself is to have better time management and to use a daily agenda to write down my assignments. This I feel will help me stay more organized and stay on the right track. I want to make parents proud and try to help them financially. You see, my mom is working two jobs at the current time to help me with college and meal plans.
In conclusion, I would be honored to receive this scholarship. I am committed to keep my resolution and help my parents during my college years. I realize I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a great university. If you grant me this scholarship, you won't be disappointed.
