Principals List by Jaron - December 2016 Scholarship Essay

It’s hard to choose just one thing because over the course of four years you can accomplish many things. If I could pick one single accomplishment throughout my whole high school career that I am most proud of, it would be finally getting principals list my senior year.
I feel as though many people overlook the level of difficulty and hard work put into getting principals list. In order to qualify, you must have all A’s. No A minus’s, strictly all A’s. On the grading scale that my school goes by, you must have a 93 or higher in all your classes. This is a hard accomplishment to get if you’re in just core classes. The amazing thing is that many of us are in AP college level classes. This year I’m not in any AP classes, but I am enrolled in a dual enrollment English class. I take the class through Tidewater Community College right down the street so I’m earning college credit and high school credit.
Including me only 85 students out of 3000 were able to get principals list. Out of that 85 only 27 of them were seniors. Around this time this thing called “senioritis” kicks in for many of my classmates. Some become lazy while we near the home stretch of our high school careers. For me this is not the case, I have never been more motivated.
Sometimes I hear other students making excuses for why they didn’t get it. Things like “They’re just smart, that’s why they can get all A’s.” What others don’t realize is how much work goes into getting grades like this. It’s more than just being smart. You have to be willing to study for long nights, do homework for hours, and stay after school for tutoring. For all these reasons I believe getting principals list is underrated and it as definitely what I am most proud of.
