Education and the value of learning are exhibited in many forms. We learn from others, our own life experiences, inspirational icons, and the makings of unwise decisions. Each individual is unique and offers a diverse involvement in personal development.

First most, I am thankful for a sound mind. I do not take this characteristic for granted. Being able to comprehend and understand the importance of what I see, study and live is a lesson of blessing in itself. For those who suffer from mental disabilities or Alzheimer's the awareness of understanding may soon be forgotten. Not that these individuals are incapable of learning, however, a sound mind endorses accountability to remembrance and reflection.

The second most useful aspect of education I appreciate is the learning of confident self-expression. Sports participation has played a vital role in preparing me with life principals. I have developed the value of self-worth. I learned the difference between the effort of good, better and best. I understand the value of respect and acceptance of defeat. I have learned that a team is not made up of one person, but it can take one person to change a team. I learned the positive impact or detrimental effects of a leadership role. I learned how to stay humble, yet confident in talents and abilities. Sports participation is an avenue that paved the way to reach goals and express my talents beyond the game field.

Another useful aspect of education is communication. The freedom of speech is powerful and a bold voice spoken has its rightful place. To stand firm in conviction, defend unpopular beliefs, or debate confrontational matters are liberties offered yet rarely rights executed. Words are powerful and body languages can speak volumes but if not clearly defined, they may be mistakenly interpenetrated. I have seen how the expression of a hug, the effects of a smile, or the tenderness of a tear gently move and breakdown barriers. I am thankful and appreciative for the liberty of expression and value of persuasive communication.

In conclusion, the acquisition of knowledge is a significant role in preparing an individual for personal development and their role in society. It is a necessary component in living the most fullest and richest life possible.
