Education in Marine Sciences by Jaedyn - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

In 10 years I am going to be the leader of a marine mammal rescue company. I will be at the front of my huge boat, with the wind whipping at my hair and Atlantic Ocean water spraying my face. Once I spot the animal I am to rescue, I will call to my teammates and jump into the icy water. My education in marine sciences and marine mammals will help me spot the problem with the creature and fix it, swiftly and effectively helping whatever animal needs my team and I’s assistance.
In 10 years I will also be leading a group of able-minded undergraduates in my life’s research to find exactly how alike whales are to humans. My education will help me do everything from plotting graphs that compare traits, to calculating the standard deviation of a population of beluga whales. I will need a sound education to assist these young minds in studying the marine life in which they also have found their passion in.
Education is vital for everything in life, but I especially need education in my major in order to efficiently and effectively shape the world into a better place, one marine mammal and mind at a time.
