Becoming Who I Want To Become by Jade - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

If I could see myself ten years from now, I would hope to see nothing more than to see myself being happy. I want to find this happiness through my passion of influencing others. This falls into my passion for bettering the community, dancing, and connecting with children. I want to make a difference for my community and the lives around me. I have big plans that can only be reached if I am able to continue my education. By having the opportunity to expand my knowledge of my interests and to grow in these areas, I am certain that I will be able to achieve all my dreams.
I am a current Rotary Interact member at my high school, and have attended conferences such as Rotary Youth Leadership awards week, and through those eye-opening experiences, I have developed a deep interest in bettering the community. While in college, I plan to engage myself in the community service clubs or organizations so I can continue this activity after high school. I hope that ten years from now I continue to exercise this passion and create new opportunities to become involved in the community. I hope to not only make these opportunities for myself but to also begin influencing the younger generations that come after me into the desire of contributing to our own world.
I have been involved in the world of dance for fifteen years now, which is the majority of my life, and I plan to continue this through the rest of my life. I have studied in a studio and also am involved in an academy at my performing arts high school. I am a student that studies dance almost every day of the week and also teaches to younger students at my family owned dance studio. In the future, I plan to take some part in continuing this family business whether I take over the establishment or continue teaching in it. Another possible future goal that would be amazing to accomplish is to take my dance ability to bigger opportunities such as ones that are in New York City. I cannot accomplish any of these goals however without being fully prepared for them, and through obtaining a dance education in college, I will be fully prepared. I want to attend a college that has the most resources that I can apply to my life for a successful future, so I must do everything in my power to be able to reach such an esteemed college.
Young children and I connect on a greater scale than any other peer of mine. That is why I have also chosen to go into the occupation of elementary education. Besides teaching younger children dance, I also have found this love though being a Red Ribbon week representative and a mentor to students at the younger schools in my school district. Both these experiences I work with children in an educational setting to better their lives and school work. I want to make a difference in their lives by being a strong influence as teachers have also done to my life. I hope in my future of being a teacher I have created a healthy, safe environment for children where they can grow and learn so that they too, can have successful futures. While studying dance I want to also learn how to be the best teacher I can be for the younger generations and wish to find that knowledge at a college with the best education program that I can find.
Ten years from now I wish to be doing nothing more than these three activities, but I cannot do that successfully without a continuing education from a college or university. Through college I hope to build relationships and establish connections that when I graduate I take away not only knowledge but memories and friends that can possibly benefit me in my future. Ten years I wish to be happy, and with college that wish can become an achievable goal.
