Resolve to be Happy by Haley - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
2015 was a year full of trials and challenges. Putting it behind me was no devastating occasion and I am looking forward to the New Year with my resolution to do one simple thing: to be happy.
With the amount of stress that comes with college, being happy is not always an easy task. Sometimes it seems easier to give up trying to be happy and live on stress and coffee for the whole semester, but it is worth the extra effort to fit happiness into my daily life. While being happy will not totally get rid of stress, it makes dealing with stress much easier. I have found that if I let stress consume my emotions, I cannot study efficiently and I am in danger of slipping into a state of apathetic procrastination. I stress so much that I no longer care about getting anything done on time, but when I can control my stress and be happy, I find that I am much more organized and motivated to succeed in all of my endeavors. I know that being happy will not be the easiest task, but I am excited to work on finding a lasting happiness over the New Year.
