New Year's Resolution by Emily - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

I know that to become a better person, you should NOT wait until the first of the year to change. Call me crazy, but I do not believe in New Year’s resolutions. Allow me to just enlighten you to why that is. New Year’s resolutions never work. If you want to become a better person, there is no better time than now. People should never wait to change, and in my eyes I see it as an excuse to do it later.
If I had to choose one thing to change about myself, I would read and study a lot more. Although I do read and study now, it is one of my weak points. I know I can do it, and I am starting to more and more every day. We may already be a week or two into the new year, but anytime is a perfect time to change. I would also like to volunteer more. I do help out when I can, but I will make more time for others in the near future.
It is important to put your best effort in all the time, and you should never wait to make this world a better place.
