Procrastinator at Their Finest by Elizabeth - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

I’ll start in five minutes is my famous line. I constantly tell myself I’ll start in five, and I never do. Always waiting till the day before the due date to start assignments is something I commonly do. This next semester is very important that I do my best and receive the best grades possible. In order for this to happen my New Year’s resolution for the 2016 year is to not procrastinate and start assignments before they are due in order to give them my best work.
I will become a better student with my New Year’s resolution because procrastination does not allow for my best work and effort into the assignments. Procrastination causes rushing to finish the assignment, staying up later into the night , and not receiving the grade I hoped for because I didn’t give myself enough time to give the assignments the best quality of work I know I can give. Procrastination doesn’t just affect my grade but also the amount of sleep I get. Not getting enough sleep also impacts my quality of work because I do not have enough energy to think properly and give the assignment my best effort.
I feel once I stop procrastinating I will give much more effort into my assignments because I give myself more than just a couple hours to come up with better ideas and problem solving solutions if I get stuck on part of the assignment. Without procrastination I will receive more sleep because I’m not waiting to the last day to start the assignment and staying up late into the night to try and finish it at the bare minimum of effort. Getting more sleep will allow more energy to give more effort and better thinking skills being put into my assignments.
Fixing such a small problem as procrastination will ensure that I am giving the best effort into my assignments making me a better student. Not procrastinating will give me better sleep and more energy to put into school assignments. Overall I become a better student and can do everything to ensure I am getting the best grades possible.
