Destiny Future Plan by Destiny - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
My name is Destiny Harris and I am a sophmore at University of Georgia. The question I ask myself is what plans have I put in place to plan for my future in ten years from now. Firstly I think you have to know what direction or path you want to follow , Secondly you have to set attainable goals for yourself , Thirdly you have to be motivated to stick to your plan. If I could pick one word that exemplifies my life that word would be motivation. When I scrutinize the word motivation; I think of my life in twenty or thirty years. My chief motivation is myself. “Wanting something is not enough. You must hunger for it. Your motivation must be absolutely compelling in order to overcome the obstacles that will invariably come your way.” (Les Brown) Through looking at self-motivation I use the momentous 16th president Abraham Lincoln as an encourager for self-motivation. If Abraham Lincoln did not persevere; the Emancipation Proclamation would not have succeeded, and America would not be what it is today.
Furthermore, in me motivating myself it assists me to enjoy activities such as track and working with younger children. I really enjoy track because it is not just a sport that I love competing at, but rather something that teaches me a life lesson. Although, I may not win at everything it teaches me to never give up and keep pressing toward my goal to be a state champion. When I went to the state track meet in high school I did not receive first place, but I placed third. In me placing third, I received the all state award and this taught me to never give up. I can see myself working internationally with a masters degree in marketing, with a concentration as a PR representative. Yes education is the only way to get there. When I graduate from UGA I will have the basic skills to get an entry level job in marketing. I will be prepared to go into work force with strong work ethic skills, problem solving skills, communication skills that my education has prepared me for. Also my study abroad education has given me opportunity to see world and to study internationally. I have just finish study abroad with program semester at sea. I toured 10 countries and had the opportunity to learn how students in Italy learn. I am glad that schools have a study abroad department and give students opportunity to learn internationally. When I graduate from college I will live internationally , this would not be attainable if I did not take advantage of the programs at my school my degree would be international business.
