Resolving To Be On Time by Cire - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

My life has always been busy. My Monday nights are typically occupied by theatre rehearsals, Tuesdays with band, Wednesdays and Thursdays with more theatre, and Fridays with basketball games where I work the concession when I'm not cheering on my classmates from the stands. Before this year, I would rush around the house forgetting what time I had to be at each activity. By the time I remembered what time I would need to be somewhere, I was usually late or running so far behind that I would forget what materials and supplies I would need to participate to my fullest potential.
That is why my resolution for 2016 is to keep a planner that has both a month-at-a-glance and a weekly view where I can write down events that are upcoming. Not only will this planner help me keep up with my extracurriculars, but it will also help me keep up with my homework because I can write down long-term deadlines for my dual-credit college classes as well project deadlines for my fine arts classes. Keeping a planner will also help me see how badly I procrastinate, motivating me to change that habit as well.
I have already purchased the perfect planner and began to fill in small dates that I knew of already: academic meets, school holidays, and doctor’s appointments. Even with the semester beginning just a few days prior, I have already been more on top of my responsibilities. Overall, I feel that this resolution will continue to help keep me organized, making me a better student.
