Organization by Brian - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
For 2016, my New Year's resolution that I believe will help me the most in school was my resolution to be more organized. This year is shaping up to be a year of many changes, and I knew that better organization would be needed to not neglect any of the important aspects of my life.
I am entering my final semester of school, and am in the process of applying to graduate chool to pursue an MBA. Also, my wife is due with our first child in April, and we are in the process of helping her parents come from Paraguay for the birth of their grandchild. With all of these costs, as well as the added demands on our time, organization seems to be the key to success in this year.
However, as everyone knows, most New Year’s resolutions don’t make it past the first month, which would not do me any good. So, the key to the resolution is to make it attainable as well as well as applicable. Luckily, I made my goals together with my wife, and we have a family night every Monday, and plan to follow up often to make sure we stay on track.
The second part of my resolution is something I think will help me to keep the first. I wanted to be a more positive person in general, and look at the glass as half full rather than half empty. This is a day-to-day process, and not something that will change overnight. But, doing so will allow me to enjoy and get more out of my life, even as more stressful events enter in.
Hopefully, we can continue to carry out this resolution together, and make 2016 the best year yet.
