My Best College Accomplishment by Barbara - December 2016 Scholarship Essay

The best accomplishment in college for me so far has been making the Dean's List at my school, while both going to school full-time and working full-time. The second best is being on the high honor and honor list a few times.

It was a great feeling knowing that all my hard work both at school and my job were paying off. The late nights of studying after my boyfriend had gone to bed, not going out with friends, working the night shift and weekends all the time pushed me to success. There had been times when it felt like it was not worth it and then to pull off the grades and get the award was so worth the late night of studying till the wee hours of the morning. Some of my friends were like, it is only a piece of paper why get so excited about it? Or they were telling me that no one will care that I was on the Dean's List when applying for jobs. But that does not bother me when they say it because I know I worked hard and deserved it. It really it is just for me and no one else.

Now as I finish my associates degree and move on to the four year university to get my bachelors in teaching it will start all over again with new grades and deadlines to push me through and keep me motivated to do better and achieve more. The goal here is to stay on top and graduate with honors. That is something that no one in my family has done. Well, no one has ever graduated from college, so as I reach into my 50's when I am finished it will be a huge accomplishment for me.
