In Ten Years... by Austin - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

In ten years, I see myself being an assortment of things. I assume I will be stressed, struggling for money, and tired from work. But among all those things I will be happy with my wife, paying for a beautiful baby, and working at the job I have wanted since I was in high school. I will not be in just one place in ten years; I will be all over the place.
By that time I will have my bachelors in Economics from the University of Tulsa. I will use that degree to find a job where I can use my skills to become a financial analyst at a fortune 500 company. On the other hand, I might go work at a brokerage firm and become a stockbroker, hopefully working myself to a position of creating my own brokerage firm. I realize just coming out of college my wages will begin relatively low, but I hope I am making near $60,000 a year.
My career path is not the only important thing to me when I look into my future. I want to be married. I want to find a beautiful wife and get married as soon as I am out of college. I want her support through work and life. I will have an amazing wife that takes care of me and the beautiful baby girl I hope to have ten years from now. She can have a job if she wants, or she can be a stay at home wife/mom. As long as my wife is happy, then I am happy.
The most important thing I want in ten years is happiness. I want to be happy and be as stress free as possible. I do not want to wake up when I am forty years old and look back at my life and have any regrets. I do not need to have a luxurious life to be happy or satisfied. I have no idea what will accomplish this goal, but as long as I am happy and am living life to the fullest I am satisfied with where I am at in ten years.
If high school and my education has taught me anything it is that life never goes as you planned. Life will throw you curve balls when you at least expect it and then have to adapt. I have a plan of where I would like my life to be in ten years, but it likely will not end up like that. Life is a windy road, never a straight narrow path. Every road has to turn right or left eventually. But no matter where I am or who I am with in ten years, I know that I will be okay and will be doing my best to accomplish every goal I have set for myself.
