I graduated with a Master of Science in Entomology (Biology) from University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation Biology) from University of Maryland, College Park. I also minored in Spanish Language Literature. I love both science and humanities!

I enjoy working with students of all ages (elementary school to adult) to facilitate their learning and academic achievement. I've tutored ever since elementary school in a variety of subjects, including Algebra, Spanish, Reading and Writing, Biology, and Exercise Science. During instruction, I meet students "where they are" to foster trust and communication, to establish groundwork for improvement, and to understand the student's needs and goals. Moving forward, I challenge and encourage students as they work hard to reach their goals. My favorite aspect of tutoring is seeing students' confidence and self-esteem increase as they learn, work hard, and apply critical thinking to new material. I believe that one of the most effective ways to learn is to understand how something applies to "real life" and how it could be useful in real-world scenarios.

My favorite classes have been on interdisciplinary topics, such as "Environment and Culture of Amazonia," "Freshwater Ecology," and "The Idea of Crime." For over 9 years, I worked as a Research Entomologist, and I recently started my own business working with organic food production. In my spare time, I enjoy reading non-fiction and historical fiction, hiking, kayaking, yoga, cooking, and traveling.
