The student learned about sources of procrastination, how it manifests, and what procedures to take to minimize and control procrastination impulses. We also reviewed older material by applying study techniques to his history homework. He struggled mostly with knowing where to start. His attitude was more positive as we reviewed goals and task listing. Strategies and skills included using objectives in the history textbook to narrow the material studied. Extra practice for the student was to apply visual devices to aid in his understanding of historical figures and events.

The student and I completed his Psychology homework, which reviewed independent and dependent variables and correlational and experimental approaches. He is fairly comfortable at determining which variable is independent and which is dependent, and he is very comfortable identifying a correlational vs experimental approach.

After addressing newly disclosed details on the terms of the student's upcoming English final, the session began with a look at a worksheet on the use and structure of assertion statements in persuasive essay writing, before turning to a series of questions prepared by the student for the discussion portion of his final. These were revised for grammar and punctuation, and clarified with regard to their scope and intent in relation to the three texts being read. The remainder of the session focused on working through typical math questions on the new version of the SAT. Areas of potential improvement included the simplification of complex polynomial fractions, laws of exponential division and multiplication, and word problems involving quadratic functions.

The student and I went over a worksheet for Government. We discussed the Constitution and the six principles of democracy. After the worksheet, we did a portion of the English ACT section together. I told him to look over the website for next time, when we will go over more ACT material.
