I am pursuing a B.S. in Mathematics at Indiana University Southeast. I have 10 years of unofficial tutoring experience and 5 years of official tutoring/teaching experience.I thoroughly enjoy helping others learn and see their true potential. By giving a student the support, encouragement, resources, and information to excel, I hope to make a positive difference in such a way that will allow them to take that information and apply to other areas in life, so that they may succeed and achieve whatever personal or academic goals they have set out for themselves. As I finish my last year in college, I have realized a few common characteristics that make the human condition a beautiful concept if given the right perspective. The first is that all people are unique and individual in their own right. No one person or student is like the other. We all think differently, learn differently, apply ourselves differently, and try to adapt to the ever changing world around us differently. The same concept can be said for learning. It is in the individual and unique approach that each student has when it comes to learning something challenging or new that I take the most pride in being apart of. I realize that as a teacher or tutor I am no more than a tiny fraction of the greater picture for a student's current and future life. However, I do not take that tiny fraction for granted. As a tutor I try to do everything within my ability to help a student excel in their academic life as a means to helping them excel in other areas of their life. If I can be just a tiny yet positive and supportive fraction of the bigger picture that makes each and every student I work with so beautiful and valuable regardless of where they start or what walk of life they come from, then I have done my job as a tutor and mentor.Secondly, I have realized that everyone makes mistakes. In school, making mistakes is a fundamental part of learning. Not only do these mistakes help us to define areas in which we need improvement, but they also allow us, as a collective body of self propelled learners, to truly appreciate a concept once it is understood. Mistakes, whether in school or in our personal life do not by any means define us. What does define us however is our attitude and approach to how we respond to these mistakes. I truly believe that by encouraging the student to be unafraid to make mistakes when learning something new, the student will then begin to see a problem from a more objective perspective and will allow themselves to slowly but surely embrace subjects, concepts, and challenges that they might not have otherwise approached or felt competent at out of fear of making a mistake. If we never make mistakes then we never learn. In addition to realizing mistakes are valuable and necessary lessons, I have learned that grades are not everything. Though grades, especially in today's society, are very important, they do not define an academic student. In my opinion, it is more important that a student at the very least progresses from where they originated from. For example, say a student truly knows the information but on the day of the test they always seem to space out or go blank. But, if you ask the same student in casual conversation about a subject when they aren't being graded and evaluated, chances are they will be able to relay accurate and insightful information. It could be the case that this student has test anxiety or may not be good test takers, which is okay! In such cases, this often means that a student may have to learn how to take a specific test versus what is on the test. But it would be an unfair representation of that student to simply say that just because their test grades do not reflect test expectations, that they are thus not knowledgeable about the subject at hand. In all, grades are a very small percentage of what makes a student a studious and hard working student. In conjunction, everyone learns at a different rate. Some students are slower learners than others. That does not mean that they are any less intelligent than the student who turned in the assignment first or raised their hand first. I have observed, even of myself, that slow learners simply learn a subject at a deeper level than those who appear to be quick to understand a concept. Often though, once they grasp the concept, they are capable of retaining it for longer periods of time that those who are faster to learn a concept. Though this is a generalization, it is an important one to understand in the sense that just because you need or want a tutor does not mean that you as a student are any less valuable or intelligent than those who may not need a tutor.Whether it be a small concept such as learning how to count by two's or a more abstract concept such as learning why a formula works the way it does, once that understanding of such concept has been achieved you can use that knowledge to help better not only your grades but hopefully other areas in your life as well. As a tutor, I tailor my teaching techniques to match the student's rate at which they learn, with the goal that as they begin to understand the material, the rate at which it is applied becomes easier for the student through time and practice.I sincerely look forward to working with each and every student I encounter, as I believe that each student, is uniquely intelligent and worthy of the satisfaction that is achieved when one reaches their individual academic goals and objectives.

I have been a licensed nurse for 9 years and a registered nurse for 2 years. I graduated in May of 2020 from Delaware County Community College. I currently work as a transplant case manager, and am back in school to obtain my BSN by way of Chamberlain University. As a former and current student, I am well versed in NCLEX , NCLEX prep, test taking skills, building good study habits and how to stay organized. I have taken the NCLEX twice , once for my LPN and once for my RN. I passed both tests on the first attempt. I do not consider myself a genius, but I know how to study and how to answer test questions to pass just about any test, even when you don't know the answer. I know the stress of test taking. I am most passionate about teaching study tools, habits and organization to pass the NCLEX. Let me help you on your journey in pursuing all your goals.

I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and went to high school at Montgomery Bell Academy. I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration dual major degree at University of Georgia in the International Business and Finance with a minor in Spanish in May 2015. As evidenced by my majors, I have a passion for international business, having experienced the geo-political and economic landscape via overseas educational opportunities. This unique perspective has broadened my academic horizons and personal development to areas far outside the classroom, equipping me with valuable skills in today’s increasingly global environment. My international interests and travels have instilled the ability to learn and adapt quickly, as well as apply knowledge and language skills effectively and efficiently. In addition to the completion of my Spanish minor, an educational trip to Costa Rica and summer classes in Spain have provided me with communication skills and a thorough understanding of different cultures. My qualified experience includes an internship with a premier real estate fund manager that has proved crucial to my development in areas of finance, and business organizations, organizational delegation and personal responsibility. Additionally, my internship with US Congressman Jim Cooper greatly expanded my knowledge and perspective of current affairs both domestic and abroad, and how they affect our national policies. Finally, 80 hours of tutoring experience in many different subjects at the Boys and Girls Club in Athens, GA has sparked my interest in motivating, teaching, and mentoring students from 8-18 years old.I am confident that my academic experiences and qualifications in Finance, Spanish and International Business have provided me with a unique opportunity and skill-set that I can pass on to others in a way that is easy to understand for students of all ages.

I love math and I love science. Math and science are two areas of study that I take pride in knowing. They are the study of the world around us and how it works to the most minute detail. That fascinates me. So much so that I achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry. It is my goal to put this same kind of passion, drive and excitement in all those around me. I hope that I will one day nerd out on math and science with all my students!

I graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor's in Mathematics and Pepperdine University with a Master's in Education.I currently teach high school math and I have tutored students throughout the school year.I mainly tutor students in Algebra 1 and Geometry. However, my favorite subject to tutor is Algebra 1 because I find that this is the subject that students usually have a harder time with.I try my best to teach students step by step on how to solve problems. I break it down so they can have a better understanding of the concepts.Outside of tutoring, I like to run and exercise. I like to go shopping and enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

I am a second year student at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in neuroscience, with minors in computer science and creative writing. I am on the pre-med track, with hopes of working internationally with nonprofits as a doctor. I am involved in tutoring programs such as Students Expanding Austin Literacy and The Education Project, the first of which is in person tutoring and the latter being online instruction. I love working on a wide variety of tutoring subjects, but specifically the sciences and english subjects. I find that it's very important to help students deeply understand questions in a way that works for them best! I believe that learning for learning's sake will help anyone get where they want to go in life.

As a QuestBridge Scholar and an undergraduate biomedical engineering student at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, I am exploring my creativity by pursuing a double major in Asian Languages and Cultures with a focus in Korean, studying abroad in South Korea as a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholar, leading workshops that teach 3D printing and CAD for undergraduate students as the president of 3D4E, advocating for the first-generation and low-income student community as the Outreach Chair of the Quest+ Scholars Network, and getting involved with the Society of Women Engineers' outreach committee. I currently hold a work-study position as an administrative clerical aide in the Institute of Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern and was an undergraduate researcher in the John Rogers Lab. As I look forward with aspirations of applying to graduate school, areas of research in biomedical engineering and biotechnology that I am particularly interested in include biomaterials, pharmaceuticals, and drug delivery systems. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy learning on my own and sharing my experience and knowledge with my peers and other students. I hope to make use of my experiences with academics and learning in high school and so far in my undergraduate career in order to effectively tutor students who may be experiencing the same struggles in learning that I also experienced.

I am currently a student at the University of Texas-Austin, and in the Honors Biomedical Engineering Program. Throughout high school and into college, I have tutored students of all ages; anywhere from my employment at a mathematics tutoring center to private lessons for students my age. Other parts of my life include playing sports (tennis, soccer, ping pong, basketball), jamming on the piano, and doing extracurriculars at school.I believe the most effective teachers are not those who know the most, but those who motivate their students to want to know it all. I like to keep the student as engaged and focused as possible in the work. From my personal experiences in high school up to the Biomedical Engineering program, I have learned the variety of ways students learn and try my best to implement the most appropriate method. Last but not least, I try to ensure the student has fun and genuinely enjoys the sessions with the tutor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Elementary students often struggle to distinguish French sounds and follow native-speed speech. A tutor provides consistent exposure to authentic pronunciation, speaks at an appropriate pace, and can pause to explain unfamiliar words or phrases. Regular 1-on-1 listening practice builds confidence and trains the ear to recognize patterns—something that's difficult to achieve in a classroom where students hear limited conversational French.
French verb conjugation involves multiple tenses (present, passé composé, imparfait) with irregular patterns that don't exist in English. Young learners often memorize conjugation charts without understanding when to use each tense in context. A tutor can teach conjugation through meaningful sentences and real conversations rather than isolated drills, helping students internalize the patterns naturally and apply them correctly in speaking and writing.
In a classroom of 20+ students, each child might speak French for just a few minutes per class. With personalized tutoring, your child speaks continuously during the entire session, building fluency and confidence. A tutor can adjust difficulty in real-time, correct pronunciation gently, and encourage spontaneous conversation rather than scripted responses—creating the immersive speaking environment that's essential for developing natural communication skills.
Rote memorization of vocabulary lists leads to quick forgetting. Effective retention comes from spaced repetition and using new words in meaningful contexts—through conversations, stories, and games. A tutor can introduce vocabulary through thematic units (food, animals, family), weave previously learned words into new lessons, and create personalized practice that connects to your child's interests, making words memorable and retrievable when needed.
French pronunciation requires attention to nasal vowels, the guttural 'r' sound, and subtle distinctions that aren't present in English. A tutor can model correct pronunciation repeatedly, listen closely to your child's speech, and provide specific feedback on mouth position and airflow. Consistent practice with immediate correction helps students internalize these sounds early, preventing fossilized errors that become harder to fix later.
Young learners benefit from a balanced approach: reading exposes them to vocabulary and sentence structure in context, while writing reinforces spelling and grammar. A tutor typically emphasizes reading and listening first to build comprehension, then introduces writing through simple sentences and short paragraphs. This progression prevents frustration and allows students to write with confidence once they've internalized basic patterns through listening and reading.
Language is inseparable from culture—learning about French holidays, food, geography, and daily life makes the language meaningful and memorable. A tutor can weave cultural elements into lessons naturally, explaining why French speakers greet differently or use formal vs. informal language. This cultural immersion helps elementary students understand not just what to say, but why they say it, deepening both language skills and genuine interest in French-speaking communities.
The most effective approach combines both. Elementary students need to understand basic grammar rules (gender, verb tense, sentence structure) to build a foundation, but they also need to hear and practice natural speech patterns so language feels intuitive rather than mechanical. A skilled tutor teaches grammar as a tool for understanding and creating meaning, then immediately applies it in real conversations and authentic texts, helping students develop both accuracy and fluency.
