I am an avid reader; my favorite genres are science fiction and historical fiction. I love hiking, alone or with family and friends. I have been a long-time contemporary/modern dancer and currently enjoy yoga. I also play acoustic guitar and sing.

I'm currently an undergraduate at Cornell University studying Biology. During a semester long break from working towards my Bachelor in Arts, I tutored Math to young students at Best In Class Education Center in Fort Bend, Texas. Prior to that teaching experience, I also tutored SAT Math. I was recruited shortly after taking the SAT myself, so it was a fresh and exciting experience for me. I currently tutor a variety of academic and test preparation subjects. I'm passionate about helping students because I have had some difficulty with certain subjects myself, and I understand the frustration of what that is like. My experience with High School Physics made me an advocate of getting help when it's needed. After seeking out assistance, I went from consistently struggling with the subject to graduating as Best Physics Student. I'm a firm proponent of the idea that with enough help, anyone can improve as drastically as I did. In my spare time, I enjoy painting, running and exploring.

I am an English instructor dedicated to enriching the lives of my students. I hold a BA in English Language and Literature from The University of Chicago and an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School. Over the years, I have merged my love of language and literature with my long-standing commitment to the welfare of children and young adults. In addition to tutoring, I have worked as a substitute teacher, classroom aide, afterschool mentor, and teaching artist. I have also recently served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan. From these experiences, I have developed a fluid understanding of teaching methods and a keen sense of students' diverse learning styles. I can tutor various English subjects, such as PreK-12 ELA curricula, ELL literacy, composition, creative writing, and ESL (conversational English) instruction; I also offer writing support to new and prospective college students, helping them craft effective admissions essays and persuasive course papers. Essentially as an educator, I believe in fostering a holistic, student-centered teaching/learning environment that prioritizes curiosity, inquiry, critical thought, and conversation. I am a graduate of Brown University, where I earned my B.A. in Literary Arts and Visual Arts, taking courses in a wide array of subjects ranging from contemporary American fiction to ancient Indian classics. My first teaching experience came in college when I had the privilege of creating and teaching a series of literature courses at a local community center. There are few experiences I find more enriching than facilitating a meaningful dialogue centered around great works of literature and art. While literature and art are my passion, I also tutor in variety of other subjects, including math, science, and test preparation. I currently work as a lead teacher in the after-school program at Archway Classical Academy in Phoenix.

I am a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelors of Arts in English and Philosophy. At Notre Dame, I worked as a tutor at the University Writing Center, helping both undergraduate and graduate students with their writing. I also tutored local middle school students in reading and writing to prepare them for standardized tests. I had the opportunity to live in Spain for 6 months, where I became fluent in Spanish and developed a love for tutoring English language learners. Since graduation, I have worked with students at Midtown Educational Foundation and other extracurricular programs, and am currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching English. I tutor a wide range of subjects, although I am most passionate about English, Spanish, and Writing. I am an advocate of student-centered tutoring, and my goal is to support and guide students so that they have the satisfaction and confidence of knowing how to think through a problem and reach the correct answer. In my free time, I love to bake, read, play soccer, and act in plays.

I have spent a lot of time around children and I have spent a good amount of time teaching as well. I want all students that I tutor to feel comfortable when I am tutoring them and I believe all students have the ability to improve. I am very comfortable teaching all subjects for grades up to 9th grade and, when dealing with high school courses, I love to tutor most math and science courses including many AP courses. I am a history teacher who had a long career in banking before returning to teaching. My career gave me the opportunity to travel extensively while living abroad (13 years in London). Through this I was able to learn about other cultures and the connections that run through our Modern World.

I'm looking forward to pursuing graduate studies in the fall for Environmental Management. During the past 3 years, I've been fortunate to travel and work on different organic farms and sustainable land stewardship projects; I'm hoping that my graduate studies will offer an opportunity to merge my formal academic training with my recent experiences working with the land.
