I received my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Arts in Art and Art History from Lafayette College in 2006. Following graduation, I worked as a Civil Engineer based in Philadelphia, PA and was certified as a Professional Engineer in 2011. After five years in the work force, I returned to graduate school to complete my Master of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. I now work as a Landscape Designer in Philadelphia and am currently applying for licensure as a Professional Landscape Architect. I also teach as an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University in the Landscape Architecture program. Through Varsity Tutors, I tutor many subjects related to engineering, math, science, art, ecology, and the environment. I love to work with students on strategies to learn math and geometry, particularly focusing on strategies that involve physical and visual learning. I am an active and hardworking individual who loves working with others to solve problems, which directly translates in my approach to tutoring. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors (running, biking, hiking, gardening) and playing with my dog and cat.

I love kids and I love learning. I have both an undergrad and graduate degree in English Language and Creative Writing. I have taught E.S.L. for the last two years and have been working with children of all ages for nearly thirty years now, from my own private childcare business to homework help, and tutoring. I recently graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics. I have tutored Math and Science since I was a high school student through a volunteer program. The summer after graduating from high school I volunteered abroad and taught English to elementary and middle school students in impoverished areas of Taiwan. While obtaining my undergraduate degree, I tutored Math to local elementary and middle school students through a volunteer organization called MATHCOUNTS.I am a good tutor because I am very thorough while teaching, and I am very patient with students.

I am currently a rising junior attending Pennsylvania State University with a major in chemical engineering. I have been a learning assistant for general chemistry 1 and organic chemistry 1 my past two semesters. I also will be a learning assistant this upcoming semester for general chemistry 1. I tutor SAT and ACT prep and math and science subjects from middle school to college. My favorite topic to tutor is chemistry. My goal for my tutoring sessions is for my students to be able to teach the topic back to me. I believe in student-centered methods of instruction and I am always open to looking at problems from different point of views.

I am a first-year Physician Assistant student at the University of Pittsburgh, where I also graduated in 2024 with my Bachelors of Science in Natural Sciences. I had an undergraduate focus in neuroscience and conceptual foundations of medicine.Since freshman year of high school, I have put forth many hours tutoring students of all ages, ranging in many subjects. My personal favorite subject to tutor in is Algebra, but I have tutored in math ranging from elementary school level to high school level. I have also tutored in the sciences and Spanish. Although I started learning Spanish in middle school, I spent half of high school in college-level Spanish courses and obtained my Seal of Biliteracy.For me, there are two feelings when tutoring that go unbeaten:1. When your student finally grasps a concept they have been struggling with.2. In high school, surprisingly, my favorite subject was math, and I always thought I was going to be a math teacher. College, however, changed my mind when I fell in love with a Colonial History course and it changed my outlook on my future in education. I have also assisted my siblings (now ages 13, 7, and 4) with school homework and other academic enrichment activities. I am passionate about finding ways to make STEM subjects engaging for students with different levels of interest. The students that I have tutored have particularly enjoyed certain hands-on activities that have helped them gain a deeper understanding of the material, such as engaging with virtual simulations that illustrate important physical concepts and coding an interactive game that requires user input.
