The Importance of Discipline by zamar - September 2014 Scholarship Essay

There's a party tonight, and everyone knows it just might be a legendary one. The host has booked a celeb artist, and the venue is perfect for the expected number of people. One problem though; you have to catch up on your least favorite subject. The last few chapters have been a blur in your brain, and deep down your conscience says you need to sit down and study. Not to mention, your semester grade depends on this one test. The pressure starts to sink in causing your body to sink even more in your beanbag seat as you sulk about the utter disappointment. 'Decisions, decisions,' you think to yourself.

Discipline is the most important skill for success in college. There are many distractions that present themselves to the average student, but a person who is focused will not let those things deter them from their goals. An undisciplined student would allow themselves to be hurt, long term, by a 3-4 hours event. Then, realize it was not worth it.

Self-control can be a difficult virtue to attain and usually is a process, but it is so vital for a successful collegiate career and, inherently, life. No matter how great the party of the century may be, discipline is the best decision.
