I view earning a college degree as setting out to pursue excellence. Achieving excellence is something I continuously strive for, particularly in my education. This principle of excellence has given me an aspiring goal of becoming a doctor. Earning my doctoral degree will empower me to serve people in my community by developing a new character that will help me help others. I recognize that the process of studying to become a doctor is a challenging path. But I understand that the process will shape me into a person that will be able to help others in my community. The process will teach me stewardship, excellence, and build character. It will teach me to manage my time, classes, and grades which will evolve and manifest in other areas of my life. By the end of this process will be the person that I want to become and what I have learned will allow me to serve my community with my new set of skills.

A doctor has an essential role in any community. A physician of any kind has the ability to help the sick and enable people to live a healthy life. A community’s health is crucial for the wellbeing of all of its members. Being able to help the community through practicing medicine can improve the lives of not just my patients but their families and friends. The past year has demonstrated that helping whole families is something very rewarding and I hope that I am able to achieve this goal. But only through attaining a college degree will this be possible. I see earning this as the first step to my future life as someone that is a valued member of any community.
