My Ten Year Plan by Tiffini - March 2020 Scholarship Essay

I believe that in life you get many opportunities to enrich your future by setting goals. Everyone should set some type of goals to benefit them for a brighter future. By pushing yourself and taking on work that pushes you to the limit, will create greater opportunities and prepare you for life’s greatest challenges.
I chose my major because I am a very caring, compassionate and empathetic person. I love educating people about health and nutrition and seeing them benefit from taking initiative in their health.

When I graduate in three years, I plan to obtain my PA license and pursue a career working under a neurologist. I find neurology to be intriguing and challenging. My interest sparked in neurology when I learned that my uncle was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 40 and has progressed significantly in just five years. I am extremely interested in how this might affect me, and my future family. I believe that working with a neurologist, proper treatment and lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise will help ease the symptoms of this disease and prolong life expectancy. I have already done some research on the subject and plan to further this research in the future. I am also very interested in holistic medicine; I plan on becoming a of naturopathic medicine. I have plans to shadow a holistic doctor and attend the National University of Health Sciences. Once I graduate, I plan to practice under a D.O. or possibly a research facility focusing on immunology and natural healing.

I have become involved with include Zeta Phi Delta, a sorority on campus which does a lot of fundraising activities for breast cancer awareness. Being part of this group allows me to provide service to the community, participate in volunteer projects that are important to me, as well as meet other PA students. I have met some highly motivated, like-minded student which I have become friends with. I have found this to be a tremendous asset to my future endeavors and my college experience. I plan on running for vice-president for Zeta Phi Delta in the future. I plan to continue Zeta Phi Delta’s mission for volunteerism and community involvement. I feel that this is an essential part of my ten-year plan because giving back to the community and networking with peers is important for my happiness and success in my career.

I believe I am an excellent candidate for this scholarship. I have, and always will, put my best effort into my work, collaborate with other students toward goals, lead in volunteer and social activities. Most of all, I respect myself and others, uphold good moral and ethical values and encourage others to do the same.
