50 Years Into the Future by Tierra - May 2020 Scholarship Essay

With so much innovation and technology on the horizon, I am certain that by 2070 education will look quite different. There will be a new age of learning and physical books in schools will be a thing of the past. Think about it: how many people do you know now, that physically go to the library to check out a book. In fifty years, books will be totally electronic, and most classroom learning will be totally online. In fifty years, physical libraries will no longer exist in schools and in educational settings.

In 50 years, new generations will be smarter than current generations, and education will teach more classes about subjects that are obviously not being taught now. Subjects that will focus on workforce development. Workforce development will equip students with the relevant tools to be employable, marketable, and prepared for the workforce after graduation.

As our society evolves, in addition, I believe in fifty years, more subjects will be more technology, finance, and science-focused. I believe medical schools will have medical students practicing on holographic bodies. In fifty years, education will look different as education videos will be shown on virtual reality sets. As states look to count the cost, in fifty years robots might be teaching children. In addition, in fifty years, some colleges and universities may no longer exist, because of the rising cost of tuition, enrollment will decrease as graduating seniors explore other affordable options.

In closing, education in fifty years will look much different than it does now and will be much more innovative and creative.
