Revelation by Tianna - April 2015 Scholarship Essay
In my most humble opinion, the purpose of education is to reveal. Education is the great unveiler in this world, and without it I truly believe that everyone would be lost and wandering purposeless throughout their life.
Although many students, including myself, and probably every other person submitting an application to this essay contest, take for granted the beautiful opportunity to have an education, without it, we would all would be lost. Because of education, we have learned to speak, to write, to sing, to love, to hate. Education doesn't just include going to a school and sitting at a desk to learn about the Trojan Horse and trigonometry. Education is acquisition and acknowledgment. Yes, it comes from school, but it also comes from experiences, from life.
The purpose of education is to reveal life to someone. Education reveals the ways of the Earth. Marine Biology reveals the magic of the oceans and the creatures that inhabit it. History reveals the ways in which we ended up here, learning. Physics reveals the unknown and hidden relationships between so many things on this enchanted Earth. All of these revelations we experience in the classroom are the purpose of education.
But the unveiling does not end there. Education is the means by which many people discover their true calling in life. Education has the potential to ignite a fiery passion within someone by which they decide to live their lives. One elective class at university can be the tiny match that kindles the flames of inspiration for someone to choose a certain career path, or simply just to choose a motto to live by. Education is the inspiration within people's lives. Education inspires diversity, uniqueness, creativity, and so much more.
Education is the almighty revealer on this earth. Everything we know, everything we love is all existing due to education. Lessons learned from heartbreak, from mistakes, from every experience to have ever happened is the great purpose of education. Education is learning in all its unique and different methods. It is everything in life.
I am writing this essay to further my education. There is nothing I lust for more than the chance to experience higher education at the University of Arizona next year. My immense thirst to just exist in the classroom, to expand my mind in whatever way that may be is the reason for which I am so driven and determined to attend college next year.
