A Failure by Thelma - April 2020 Scholarship Essay

Hello, my name is Thelma Ibe and I am here to tell you that attending college is not important or necessary. My reason for this claim is because if you take a step back you will realize that the education system has not only failed to teach us the things we need to know before we step out into the word but also just given us a slap on the wrist whenever we do something wrong.
The education system finds a way to back it up and make it make sense, for example, take a look at me I am 18 on my way to college and I don’t know anything about loans or how to financially support myself, not trying to discredit my high school but in my county, my school is classified as one of the best high school and that’s because they teach the students that they can get away with everything and just give them a slap on the wrist so they can graduate and my school can be seen as the students always graudates, so do I think college is important yes for some people it might be very important but it is not necessary because at the end of the day it’s just another obstacle that we have to tackle so we can get where we need to be in life but we will get there by having to pay so much just for attending one school and spending so much money to pay to get in just at the end for us to not get into the school, the application itself is expensive, so the reason I think college is not important is that we are not only not ready but we werent prepared enough for it.
